While at high school, Diane competed apparently successfully in figure skating, and also matriculated early at the age of 16. Neal then went to college and majored in Pre-Med, but dropped out to pursue a modeling career, and to attend the Atlantic Acting School in New York.
In 2001, Neal made her on-screen debut in the television series called “Ed”, and a year later, she gave her voice to the character of Cleopatra in “Asterix and Obelix Meet Cleopatra”, which grossed over $110 million worldwide a the box-office. Neal’s most prominent role came in “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” when she started playing Casey Novak in 2001. She appeared in 111 episodes during eleven years, and earned plenty of money thanks to the popularity of the Golden Globe-winning series. Neal was quite busy while filming the show, but she still managed to secure ther roles, including parts in horror flicks like “Dracula II: Ascension” (2003) and “Dracula III: Legacy” (2005), alongside Jason Scott Lee. Although the films were made in Transylvania and other parts of Romania, they failed to achieve commercial success and went relatively unnoticed.
Before the end of the 2000’s, Neal made an appearance in an episode of “Law & Order: Trial by Jury” in 2005, and later played in one episode of “30 Rock” in 2006, then had a role in the romantic comedy called “My Fake Fiance” (2009) with Melissa Joan Hart, Joey Lawrence, and Jason MacDonald. However, she continued with roles in several low-budget films during this decade, and in the meantime appeared in three episodes of “Suits” (2012-2014).
Neal decided to stick with TV series instead of playing in independent movies, and she played as Cynthia Sheridan in four episodes of “Power” in 2014. Most recently, she has appeared in “NCIS: New Orleans” (2015), “The Following” (2015) starring Kevin Bacon, and in CBS’s “Blue Bloods” (2015), which have only added to her net worth.
