Deidra Muriel Roper Wiki Biography

Deidra Muriel Roper was born on 3 August 1971, in Brooklyn, New York City USA, and deriving her stage name from the fairy tale character Cinderella, is a rapper, actress, DJ and producer, perhaps best known for being part of the hip hop group Salt-n-Pepa. She occasionally appeared in the reality television series “The Salt-n-Pepa Show” which aired in 2008. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

How rich is DJ Spinderella? As of mid-2017, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through a successful career in the music industry, in which she’s been active since 1985. As she continues her career, it is expected that her wealth will also continue to increase.

Growing up, Spinderella was influenced by music thanks to her father’s record collection, and at the age of 14, she started pursuing a DJ career while still at high school, learning DJ techniques and marketing herself around Brooklyn. Two years later, she was invited to join an all-female rap group, and was offered an audition with the producer Herbie “LuvBug” Azor.

In 1986, Roper was introduced to the group Salt-N-Pepa just before their appearance in the Westchester Music Festival. The original DJ missed group appearances and rehearsals which prompted the group to look for a new DJ, and they decided to give her the name Spinderella and she would work on the creation of their first album. The group started touring around the country, and would find considerable success. Her net worth started increasing, as they would become one of the most successful female hip hop groups of all time. They released five studio albums, and were able to create gold as well as platinum singles, and DJ also worked in producing some of their songs. However, in 2002 the group decided to disband.

The following year Spinderella started working at KKBT in Los Angeles, California on which she became a radio personality, co-hosting the show “The BackSpin” which featured old school hip hop songs. She would work there for three years, and during that time also made appearances in several episodes of “The Salt N Pepa Show”, which aired on VH1. She also worked at KSOC located in Dallas, Texas, and then founded the Spinderella DJ Academy, and appeared in the first annual “Hip Hop Honors” show. In 2007 she became the DJ for “The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav’, and during the same year, Salt-N-Pepa reformed and they would start performing again, making an appearance in the 2008 BET Hip Hop Awards. She was also working on a solo album but it was never released due to her record label Red Ant ceasing operations.

DJ has also appeared in several films, including “Stay Tuned” in 1992 and “Kazaam”.

For her personal life, it is known that Spinderella has a daughter with former NBA player Kenny Anderson; she also appeared in an episode of “My Super Sweet 16”. DJ now resides in Dallas, Texas.
