Deborah Norville Wiki Biography
Deborah Anne Norville is a Dalton, Georgia-born American television journalist, businesswoman as well as an author. She is perhaps best known for being the anchor of the television news magazine “Inside Edition”, for the past two decades. Born on 8 August 1958, Deborah is also known for being the author of the New York Times Best Selling book “Thank You Power”. She has been professionally active as a journalist since 1978.
A very well-known and reputable personality on television, one may wonder how rich Deborah is at the present? As estimated by sources, Deborah counts her net worth at an amount of $3 million as of mid-2016, accumulated from her involvement in journalism for more than 35 years of her career.
Raised in Georgia, Deborah was skilled in sewing and was also the winner of her town, Dalton’s local Junior Miss contest. She initially had interest in pursuing a career in law, however, her intentions changed as she went on to participate in 1976 America’s Junior Miss pageant and saw the behind the scenes of CBS television. At that time, Deborah switched her interest from law to journalism. After matriculating from her high school, Deborah enrolled at the University of Georgia to graduate summa sum laude in only three years, clearly being a bright student at college and graduating with a grade of 4.0.
After graduation, Norville started her career as a reporter as a summer intern at WAGA-TV, and later joined the same company as a regular staff. Notably, Deborah had a chance to conduct a live interview with the then president of the USA, Mr. Jimmy Carter in 1979. Eventually, Deborah joined NBC in 1987 as an anchor for a news program named “NBC News at Sunrise”. She was the only solo female anchor at NBC at the time and as she started working, the ratings of the program jumped by 40% which helped her earn popularity as a TV journalist. This was the pivotal time in Norville’s career when her net worth began to rise.
As a journalist, Deborah co-hosted a television program named “Today Show” when Jane Pauley resigned from the show. She also became more and more famous as she started hosting the American television news magazine “Inside Edition”; some famous journalists including David Frost, Bill O’Reilly and Rolonda Watts have also been a part of “Inside Edition”. Of course, being a part of these popular television shows have added significantly to Deborah’s net worth over the years.
Apart from being a successful journalist, Norville has also found prominence as a writer and publisher; in 2007, her book “Thank You Power: Making the Science of Gratitude Work for You” was listed as a New York Times Bestseller. In addition, she writes knit and crochet pattern books, and sells a line of yarns, manufactured by Premier Yarns. Obviously, these projects have a big hand in adding to Norville’s net worth and making her a millionaire.
Regarding her personal life, 58 years-old Deborah is leading her life as a married woman. She married Karl Wellner, a Swedish businessman in 1987 and the couple has three children. She now enjoys her life as one of the most recognized journalists while her net worth of $3 million caters to her daily lives.
