David Shorey Wiki Biography
David Shore was born on 3 July 1959, in London, Ontario Canada, of Jewish descent. David is a writer and former lawyer, but best known for producing various shows on television. He also wrote most of his shows, with some of his projects including “NYPD Blue” and “Due South”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is David Shore? As of mid-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $50 million, mostly earned through a successful career in television. He helped create the critically acclaimed show “House”, and also made “Sneaky Pete”. As he continues his career, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
David attended AB Lucas Secondary School, and after matriculating, went to the University of Western Ontario. After graduating, he then attended the University of Toronto to study law. He achieved his JD in 1982, and then worked as a corporate lawyer as well as a municipal lawyer. Afterwards, he moved to Los Angeles to try his hand at a career in television, effectively ending his law career.
One of Shore’s first projects was “Due South” which is about a Canadian who goes to the US. He then worked on the drama “NYPD Blue”, a police drama series is about the struggles of a fictional detective squad in Manhattan, intertwining several plots that involve the cast, and which would go on to gain two Emmy Award nominations. The series contributed significantly to Shore’s net worth.
He then moved to other projects such as “Century City”, which did not find success. In 2003, he decided to work on another police procedural style project, which now focused on medicine – taking inspiration from Sherlock Holmes, he created “House, MD” whose titular character was played by comedian Hugh Laurie. The project was taken by Fox and it proved to be one of their biggest hits, with Shore continuing to write for the show, and also did directorial work for the show His work earned him a 2005 Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, and he would win the Writers Guild of America Award for the episodic drama in 2010. He continued to work on “House, MD” until its eighth and final season. Thanks to the success of the project his net worth continued to build. During this time, he also started working on the police television show “Winters” however, it was short lived.

David Shorey Quotes
- [on writing ‘House.M.D.’] The challenge was always, either the patient gets better or the patient dies. We did try to break up the formula now and then, but fundamentally I was comfortable with it. We departed from it on occasion, and those departures worked. The real challenge though was that I didn’t want people going, ‘I wonder if he will get better’. Rather, I wanted them to think, ‘What’s House going to do, and how is everybody going to react to that’. The stories were about him figuring out the challenge, discovering what the obstacles were and then finding a way to overcome those obstacles. The fun part for me, for us as writers, was to make that aspect of it a surprise, week in and week out.
- [on ‘House’] It’s always sad, in some ways, when something ends. Whatever this turns out to be – eight years, nine years, ten years – it’s been a tremendous experience. It’s been way more than I could have possibly imagined. It’s been unbelievable. I was extremely lucky, as a writer, to be able to explore this character for one year, never mind eight.
