David Heymann Wiki Biography
David Jonathan Heyman is a film producer born on 26th July 1961 in London, England, of part German-Jewish descent on his father’s side. His best known project is probably securing the film rights to the Harry Potter film series, and producing all eight installments and in that way becoming one of the most important members of the crew. Among other acknowledgements, he has earned a BAFTA Award for Best British Film and an Academy Award nomination. Heyman is the founder of Heyday Films film studio.
Have you ever wondered how rich David Heyman is? According to sources, it has been estimated that David Heyman’s net worth is $125 million, as of July 2017, accumulated through a successful career in the entertainment industry which he started in the mid-‘80s. Since David is still active as a film producer, his net worth continues to grow.
David was born into an artistic family – his father, John Heyman, produced films such as “Jesus” and “The Go-Between” and his mother, Norma Heyman, was an Academy Award nominated producer and actress. David attended Westminster School and decided to study abroad after matriculating, enrolling at Harvard University and graduating with a degree in Art History in 1983. Heyman’s first career venture in the film industry was as a production assistant in “A Passage to India”. In 1986, he joined Warner Brothers as a creative executive, and by the end of the ‘80s had moved to United Artists as a vice president, so his net worth was rising steadily.
David launched his independent producing career in 1992 with his first film “Juice”, which was followed by “The Stoned Age” two years later. Heyman decided to return to London in 1997, and founded his independent production company called Heyday Films. Since then, he has produced numerous films, including the popular Harry Potter adaptations starting with its first installment “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” (2001). His other notable work includes the blockbuster “I Am Legend” (2007) starring Will Smith, “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”, “Yes Man” starring Jim Carrey and “Is Anybody There?” starring Michael Caine. When he finished his work on the Harry Potter films, David reunited with director Alfonso Cuaron – who directed the third Harry Potter installment – and the two produced the space thriller “Gravity” (2013), starring Sandra Bullock, which was a commercial success and earned 10 Academy Awards nominations. The same year, Heyman produced the comedy “We’re the Millers”, and a year later “Paddington”, a family film which brought him the Alexander Korda Award for Best British Film nomination.
Thanks to his long and successful work on Harry Potter films, David was engaged in producing the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” (2016) and its sequel set for release in 201, and other upcoming projects are “Fables”, based on the comic book series, and “Queen of the Tearling”, starring Emma Watson.
Privately, David is married to interior designer Rose Batstone Uniacke, and the two have a son. The family resides in Pimlico, London.
