David Beckham Wiki Biography
David Robert Joseph Beckham was born on 2nd May 1975, in Leytonstone, London England. He is one of the most popular and successful football players. David is a retired professional footballer, the former member of such teams as Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Manchester United and others. Beckham managed to win league titles in four different countries as follows: France, USA, Spain and England. More, he was a member of England’s national football team. He is known not only for his profession but for the life style due to great media attention. David Beckham played football professionally from 1991 to 2013.
How rich is David? $350 million makes-up the sum of Beckham’s current net worth. His annual salary is $50 million. More, he earns a lot of money from various endorsement deals, for instance, he received $42 million from those deals in 2013 alone.
His success story begins in his early childhood, when the only passion he had was football. Manchester United was the team which he and his parents supported. David attended a football school and later as a junior he played for Tottenham Hotspur and Brimsdown Rovers teams.
For more than 20 years David has been playing football professionally. The basic facts of his long spanned career include the following information: he signed a contract with Manchester United in 1989, began training in 1991 and made his debut in the senior team in 1992. With the Manchester club David became a Premier League champion six times (1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2003), twice won the FA Cup (1996, 1999) and the UEFA Champions League Cup (1999). Of course his success with the team added considerably to his net worth.
Since 1996, Beckham was a member of the national team. He was invited to play in the world championships 1998, 2002 and 2006. In 2002, David managed to score the decisive goal in the competition with Argentina. In 2006, during the championship Beckham was elected the best player during five championship games, in which he scored one goal and made two assists. David Beckham holds the record of being the first England player to score at three World Cups, and playing a record 115 games for his country. Again his net worth increased significantly with these appearances.
In 2003 David was transferred to Spanish club Real Madrid for over $30 million, subsequently playing 116 games in four years for the club, and not only helping them to on-field success, but also assisting in a huge increase in merchandise sales which Forbes magazine estimates at over $600 million over the period.
In 2007 it was reported that David Beckham signed a five-year contract with the Los Angeles Galaxy club USA worth $250 million. In 2012 he extended the contract for two years, and played 98 games in five years, but also 30 for AC Milan during a period on loan to the top Italian club.. But in 2013, the player moved to the Paris Saint Germain club.
David Beckham has won many awards over the years, and perhaps the most important was being named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II (2003) for the lifetime achievements.
David Beckham Academy was opened in 2005 in Los Angeles and London. However, both were closed and only a mobile one is being developed.
In his personal life, in 1999 David married Spice Girl Victoria Adams (Posh Spice), and they now have four children. As long as both of them were very successful in their own fields they attracted the attention of mass/media. From 1999 to 2012, the family resided in Beckingham Palace. Currently, they live in Kensington, London.
