Darryl Strawberry Wiki Biography
Daryl Eugene Strawberry, Sr., was born on 12 March 1962, in Los Angeles, California USA. He is a famous former baseball player, now author, noted for playing in such teams as the “New York Mets”, “San Francisco Giants”, “Los Angeles Dodgers” and “New York Yankees”. During his career, Strawberry won such awards and titles as NL home run leader, NL Rookie of the Year, Silver Slugger Award, and being a member of four World Series Championship-winning teams. He was also selected for the All-Star team eight times. Despite the fact that Darryl does not play baseball any more, he still remains a very active person and involves himself in various activities and business affairs.
If you consider how rich Darryl Strawberry is, it can be said that Darryl’s estimated net worth is over $2 million, mainly gained during his largely successful career as a baseball player. Although he has retired from this sport, his net worth still grows as Darryl is involved in many other activities.
Darryl studied at the Crenshaw High School, where he started playing baseball. Soon Strawberry was able to prove that he was a really talented player, and had all the skills to become a very successful professional player. He was noticed by scouts for the baseball team called the “New York Mets”, and in 1983 he signed a contract with this team. This was the time when Darryl Strawberry’s net worth began growing. Darryl became one of the best players of the team and contributed a lot to the team’s wins, including World Series Champions in 1986. In 1991 Strawberry decided to change teams and became a part of the “Los Angeles Dodgers”. This, of course, had a huge impact on the growth of Darryl’s net worth. Despite the success he had while playing at this team he decided to leave it in 1993 and one year later he joined another team, called “San Francisco Giants”. The last team in which Darryl played before his retirement was the “New York Yankees”, where he played until 1999, helping the team win the World Series Championship in 1996, 1998 and 1999.
As mentioned, although Darryl has retired from baseball he still remains very active. In 2010 he decided to open a restaurant, called “Strawberry’s Sports Grill”, which also initially helped his net worth grow, but the restaurant was closed in 2012. He has also worked as an analyst for the “SportsNet New York”. In 2009, Darryl together with John Strausbaugh published the book entitled “Straw: Finding My Way”. Regretfully, Darryl has had constant problems with drug addiction, which eventually saw him jailed in 2002 for continually breaking rehabilitation conditions.
If to talk about Darryl Strawberry’s personal life, it can be said that in 1985 he married Lisa Andrews, with whom he had two children, but they divorced in 1993. In the same year he married Charisse Strawberry, with whom he had three children, but their marriage also ended in divorce, in 2006. In 2006 Darryl married Tracy Boulware, with whom he lives up until now.
