Corey Taylor Wiki Biography

Corey Todd Taylor was born on 8 December 1973, in Des Moines, Iowa USA of German and Native American (father) and Irish and Dutch (mother) ancestry. Corey is a musician, songwriter and actor, perhaps best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy rock band Slipknot, and as a founder member of the band Stone Sour.

So just how rich is Corey Taylor? Sources estimate that Corey’s net worth has currently reached the impressive amount of $10 million, virtually all of his wealth having come from his career in the entertainment industry.

Corey Taylor was introduced to classic rock at an early age, but over the years his music taste began leaning more towards heavy rock and metal styles. During his career, he has worked with numerous well-known bands and artists including Apocalyptica, Soulfly, Anthrax and Aaron Lewis. A very important quality that without doubt has contributed to Corey Taylor’s net worth and popularity is his impressive vocal range: he is known to have the second-highest vocal range (5 and a half octaves) among all popular music artists, the highest vocal range being Mike Patton’s. Corey has a baritone voice, which he uses to its full capability by not only singing, but also shouting, screaming and rapping. Because of his unique singing abilities, Corey Taylor has earned 86th place on the Hit Parader’s “Top 100 Vocalists of All-Time” list.

While by no means a famous actor, appearances on screens have contributed to Corey Taylor’s net worth. In 2013, he portrayed the character of Robert England in “Fear Clinic” and was also cast in the horror movie called “Bullied” that came out in the same year.

Until 1997, Corey Taylor performed and released numerous albums with Stone Sour, however, in that year he received an invitation from Joey Jordison, Shawn Crahan and Mick Thomson to join their band, Slipknot. After practicing with them, he began playing gigs with the band as the lead vocalist, and then joined permanently, leaving Stone Sour. The latter was a fairly successful band, but performing with Slipknot gained Corey most of popularity, fame and, with that, greatly raised his net worth. Slipknot is a unique band not only because of their music, but because of their signature horror-themed looks. Strangely, their impressively creepy costumes were inspired by the horror movie Halloween. Corey Taylor did not wear a mask in their very first performance, but after putting it on for his second show, it became a part of his stage personality. The same mask can be seen on his debut album cover. Their self-titled debut album gained Slipknot instant success and went double platinum in the United States, reached number one on the UK Albums Chart and became one of the albums included in the book entitled “1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die”, released in 2006. The band’s main themes and style are not easily described, but they generally tend to express moods of depression, anger, hostility, rebellion, and to use explicit content and profanity which apparently appeals to their fan base.

In his private life, Corey Taylor was married to Scarlett Stone from 2004-07, and they have a son. Corey has been married to Stephanie Luby since 2009 . Corey has apparently overcome problems with depression, and alcohol and drug abuse.
