Clinton Drew Dempsey was born on the 9th March 1983, in Nacogdoches, Texas USA. He is best known for being one of the most successful American professional soccer players. He plays in the positions of forward and attacking midfielder in Major League Soccer for the Seattle Sounders FC. Clint is also the captain of the USA National team. His career has been active since 1998.
Have you ever wondered how rich Clint Dempsey is? It has been estimated by sources that Clint’s net worth is over $16 million; his annual salary is around $8 million. The main source of his wealth is his career as a professional soccer player and there is little doubt that his net worth will become higher.
Clint Dempsey was raised with siblings in a trailer park, where he started playing soccer alongside local kids. His older brother, Ryan, was offered the chance to play for the Dallas Texans, an elite soccer team, so this was a unique chance for young Clint to start playing soccer professionally, as he was spotted on the sidelines, just juggling and dribbling the ball, and was quickly signed to the team. He soon became the star on his new team, thanks to his skills, but because of the lack of money, and his sister`s tennis lessons, Clint had to quit soccer, however, several parents of his teammates offered to help him, by paying his travel and other expenses. When he was 13 years old, his sister Jenifer died of a brain aneurysm, which shattered young Clint, and he promised his sister that he would become one of the best soccer players in the world. In the next few years, playing with the Dallas Texans, Clint became the highest scorer on the team, and was its captain. Furthermore, he was the MVP of the Tampa Bay Sun Bowl tournament. He then enrolled at Furman University, where he continued playing soccer, for the Furman Paladins.
Clint`s professional career began with the 2004 MLS SuperDraft, as he was selected as 8th overall pick by New England Revolution. He signed a rookie contract, which certainly increased his net worth. He stayed with the New England Revolution until 2006, when English premier league team Fulham decided to buy him for $4 million, which at the time was the highest offer for a player in the MLS. He signed a contract with Fulam worth $3 million per year, and stayed with the team until 2012, when he was sold to Tottenham, which increased his salary to $7.5 million per year, adding considerably to his net worth.
However, in 2013, he was transferred to Seattle Sounders, who bought him for $9 million, and with whom he is currently playing.
He can also praise himself as one of the best USA National players; he has played 119 matches for the USA National team, scoring 48 goals. He has also won two CONCAF Gold Cups in 2005 and 2007, which also added to his net worth.
To speak of his accomplishments, Dempsey earned the Rookie Of The Year award with New England Revolution. In 2011 and 2012, he was named the Player OF The Season for Fulham, and was the top goalscorer for Fulham in 2010-2011 and 2011-2012 seasons.
Regarding Clint Dempsey’s personal life, married Bethany Keegan in 2007, with whom he has four children. He is a big fan of the NFL team, the Houston Texans.
