Christopher Ryan McAlister Wiki Biography
Christopher James McAlister was born on the 14th June 1977 in Pasadena, California USA, and is former American Football player who is most famous for being the cornerback of National Football League’s (NFL) Baltimore Ravens with which he won the Super Bowl XXXV title in season 2000. He is also widely recognized as a former member of the New Orleans Saints.
Have you ever wondered how rich Chris McAlister is? How much wealth did he accumulate so far? Apparently – none! According to sources, it is estimated that Chris McAlister’s net worth, as of mid-2017, revolves around the sum of $ -100,000. Having an annual salary of $8 million and retiring in 2009 with net worth of around $55 million, being without any income ever since and after the divorce, Chris’ wealth melted like butter in the past several years.
Being the son of James McAlister, renowned running back of NFL’s Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots, it is no wonder that Chris McAlister managed to make a successful American Football career too. He went to Pasadena High School where he excelled at sports, not only American Football but also basketball and track and field; in his senior year, he was named California’s Most Valuable Player. For his great contribution and later professional achievements, Pasadena High School retired his No. 9 jersey.
McAlister enrolled at Mt. San Antonio College but soon transferred to the University of Arizona where he joined the Arizona Wildcats. During his college career, between 1996 and 1998, Chris was selected for All-American as well as for All-Pac – 10 three times consecutively. He is also the 1998 winner of Mosi Tatupu Award.
Chris McAlister’s professional American Football career officially began in 1999 when he was drafted in the first round as pick No. 10 by the Baltimore Ravens. Making continuous solid performances during his rookie season, McAlister was selected for the 1999 All-Rookie Team. In the season 2000, Chris massively contributed to Ravens’ great performances which were crowned at the end of the season with winning the Super Bowl XXXV against the New York Giants. In 2003, McAlister made his debut appearance at the Pro Bowl. It is certain that all these achievements provided the basis for Chris McAlister’s net worth.
In 2004, Chris signed a seven-year long, $55 million-worth contract with the Ravens. In 2006 he played his career’s best season and appeared in another Pro Bowl. However, due to injuries resulting in inconsistent plays throughout the 2007 and 2008 seasons, his contract with the Ravens was terminated in the early stages of 2009. After several months of pause, in November 2009 Chris McAlister teamed up with the New Orleans Saints but was released only a month later, playing in a few games only. Chris McAlister’s professional career officially ended in 2009, making him a young, $55 million-worth pensioner.
However, despite shiny and successful professional career, Chris McAlister’s private life isn’t that bright at all – after only 13 months of marriage, he separated from and later divorced his wife Marlene, with whom he has two daughters. Being divorced and, allegedly, without any income since his retirement in 2009, his past net worth, rapidly and drastically reduced, forcing him to move back into his parents home in Dallas, Texas, and demanding a decrease in his child support payments. Apparently his hard partying lifestyle also has something to do with his current financial situation.
There are rumors saying that since 2014, Chris McAlister has put some efforts towards a coaching career, however, there aren’t any relevant details. Being the best cornerback in the Baltimore Ravens 20-year long history, Chris McAlister is one of the main candidates for receiving the franchise’s next Ring of Honor.
