Christophe Guy Denis Lambert was born on 29th March 1957, in Great Neck, New York, USA, and is a French actor and producer, best known for his role as Connor MacLeod in the “Highlander” franchise. Have you ever wondered how rich Christopher Lambert is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Lambert’s net worth is as high as $5 million, an amount earned through his successful acting career. In addition to being a film actor, Lambert also works as a producer, which has improved his wealth.

Christopher Lambert grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, and later moved to Paris, France when he was a teenager.

Lambert’s career started in 1979 when he appeared in the French movie “The Telephone Bar”, and he continued to play in France until 1984 and starring role in Hugh Hudson’s Oscar-nominated “Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes” with Andie MacDowell, Ralph Richardson, and Ian Holm, which earned around $45 million and put Lambert on the map. In 1985, Lambert played alongside Isabelle Adjani in Luc Besson’s BAFTA-nominated “Metro”, while in 1986 he starred as Connor MacLeod / Russell Edwin Nash in Russell Mulcahy’s “Highlander” with Sean Connery, which helped Lambert to become a popular actor and also increased his net worth. By the end of the ‘80s, Lambert had played lead roles in such movies as Michael Cimino’s “The Sicilian” (1987), “Priceless Beauty” (1988) alongside Diane Lane, and “To Kill a Priest” (1988) with Ed Harris, Joss Ackland, and Tim Roth, increasing his net worth to a large degree.

In the early ‘90’s, Lambert played in “Highlander II: The Quickening” (1991) with Sean Connery and Virginia Madsen, “Knight Moves” (1992) with Diane Lane and Daniel Baldwin, “Fortress” (1992), and “Loaded Weapon 1” (1993) starring Emilio Estevez and Samuel L. Jackson. In 1994, Christopher played in “Highlander: The Final Dimension” with Mario Van Peebles, and then portrayed Lord Rayden in the movie adaptation of the cult video game “Mortal Kombat” in 1995. Although the budget was $18 million, the film grossed over $122 million worldwide and drastically improved Lambert’s wealth. He ended the decade with “Nirvana” (1997) and “Resurrection” (1999).

After playing in “Highlander: Endgame” in 2000, Lambert failed to secure a significant role in a commercially successful movie. However, he starred in such films as “Game of Swords” (2006), “Southland Tales” (2006) with Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, and Seann William Scott, and in “White Material” (2009). Christopher appeared in “Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance” (2011) starring Nicolas Cage, Ciarán Hinds, and Idris Elba, in Bulgarian movie “The Foreigner” (2012), and in six episodes of series “NCIS: Los Angeles” (2013). Most recently, he had parts in “Un + Une” (2015) alongside Jean Dujardin, and in Ethan Coen and Joel Coen’s “Hail, Caesar!” (2016) with Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, and Ralph Fiennes. Lambert is currently filming the series “Mata Hari” (2016- ), and the movies “The Broken Key” and “Chacun sa vie et son Intime Conviction”.

Christopher Lambert Quotes

  • I was always trying, even in pure action movies, to find what was sensitive about the character more than the pure action. When I read Highlander, what interested me was the romance, the pain that this guy was carrying, not being able to die and looking around him at all the people he loved going before him.
  • [2010 – On if always being questioned about Highlander bothers him] No. It’s like, would people like Clint Eastwood be upset because they talk about Dirty Harry? Or Mel Gibson because they talk about Mad Max or Harrison Ford because they talk about Indiana Jones? I think in some ways it’s good to have at least one thing for which you could be really immortal, you know?
  • Acting is still, of course, what I love to do most. The beauty of it is that by changing characters, it never gets boring.
  • [Advice to struggling actors] The most important thing is to be passionate and ready to accept the pains that sometimes go along with the business.
  • It may be a mistake to say this, but I know my limitations as an actor and I know what I can and can not do. Robert De Niro can do everything. I can’t. A “Highlander” movie is basically my thing. What I’m attempting to do is develop my ability as an actor and try to be the best I can be in the fantasy/action genre. I would love to do a “Rain Man,” but I think ultimately this is my thing.
  • It’s not a matter of becoming a superstar. Fame and money aren’t the purpose of all this. No actor’s going to say, “I don’t want to be famous.” But the main purpose for doing what I’m doing is the passion in the work.

Christopher Lambert Important Facts

  • Turned down the role of Martin Riggs in Lethal Weapon (1987).
  • Was John Glenn’s first choice for the role of James Bond in The Living Daylights. But he was ultimately turned down due to his accent.
  • Suffers from myopia, a condition that causes the eyes to focus incorrectly, making distant objects appear blurred. [2010]
  • In a 2010 interview, he stated that nowadays he lives “mostly on an airplane” and he can’t stay anywhere longer than a few months. When not on location, he divides his time between his “main residence” in Switzerland, a winery in Provence and his 16-year-old daughter in Los Angeles.
  • His favorite horror films are The Shining (1980), Rosemary’s Baby (1968), The Evil Dead (1981) and the original Halloween (1978).
  • Met first wife Diane Lane in 1985, when they were both in Rome on separate publicity junkets. They married three years later.
  • (July 11, 2014) Separated from his girlfriend of 7 years Sophie Marceau.
  • Close friend of Mario Van Peebles and Sean Connery.
  • In francophone markets on his US films, his forename in credits is repainted as “Christophe”, which is his birth name.
  • Mentioned by name in Vincent Delerm’s song “Cosmopolitan”.
  • Has his look-alike puppet in the French show Les guignols de l’info (1988).
  • Was scheduled to appear in the David Lean-directed “Nostromo” in 1991, before Lean died, and the production came to a halt.
  • Daughter, with Diane Lane, Eleanor Lambert (born Sept. 5 1993).
  • The patented, intense gaze he often shows in his roles is the result of myopia at an early age.
