It has been estimated from sources that the overall size of Chris’ net worth is $6 million, with the main source of this amount of money being his involvement in the entertainment industry as a sports journalist and analyst. Additional to this, he has also written a book, which represents another source of his wealth.

Chris Mortensen went to North Torrance High School, after which he became a student at El Camino College. Upon graduation, he joined the US Army during the Vietnam War, serving for two years and receiving an honorable discharge.

Mortensen`s career began before the end of the 1960s, finding job at the Daily Breeze newspaper in Torrance, for which he worked until the 1980s. In 1983, he joined the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, with a main focus on investigative journalism. Chris also covered Atlanta-based sports teams, such as the Atlanta Braves from 1983 until 1985, then the Atlanta Falcons through 1985-1986 season, which led to him receiving the George Polk Award, becoming the second ever sportswriter to receive it, besides Red Smith.

He left the Atlanta Journal Constitution in 1989, and joined the National Sports Daily, under editor Frank Deford. Thanks to his previous accomplishments as a reporter, Mortensen was approached by ESPN in 1991, and in no time became one of the best NFL analysts for the aforementioned Network. He is a regular contributor to the shows such as “NFL Insiders”, “Sunday NFL Countdown”, “SportsCenter”, “Monday Night Countdown”, “NFL Live”, and many others. Furthermore, he serves as the analyst for ESPN`s coverage of the NFL Draft, which has also added to his net worth.

Chris has also published a book, entitled “Playing for Keeps: How One Man Kept the Mob from Sinking Its Hooks into Pro Football” (1991), the sales of which have added a lot to the size of his net worth.

Thanks to his successful career as a journalist, Mortensen has received several awards, including the National Headliner Award in 1978, and nominations for two Pulitzer Prizes. He has also won over 15 different journalistic awards.
