It has been acquired through her modeling career, which was active between 1978 and 1986, after which she launched her acting career which also contributes.
Carol was the third of four children of Muriel, a model and airline employee, and a fire chief, Anthony Alt, and apart from American, is of Irish, Belgian and German ancestry. She enrolled at Hofstra University on an ROTC scholarship, but during her freshman year, she served as a waitress in a one of Long Island’s restaurants when she was spotted by an Elite Agency’s modeling agent. Carol then abandoned her studies to pursue her modeling career full time, which officially began in 1978.
The real breakthrough in Carol’s modeling career occurred just a year later, when she appeared on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar. She gained even more popularity and fame in 1982 when she was featured on the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. In the course of the next several years, Carol managed to gain Super Model status and appeared on the covers of nearly 500 other magazines such as Vogue, Elle and Cosmopolitan. Life magazine named her “The Face” while the Playboy Magazine honored her with “the most beautiful women in the world” epithet. Apart from all these ventures, Carol Alt has also starred in several commercials for brands such as General Motors, Givenchy, Noxzema and Pepsi. All these achievements provided the basis for Carol Alt’s present day net worth.
In 1986, Carol turned toward acting and debuted on the small screen in 1987 with a minor role in the “Capitol” TV series, which was immediately followed by appearances in the “Houston Knights” TV series, and Italian movies “Via Montenapoleone” and “I Miei Primi 40 Anni” later in 1987. In the course of the next several years, Alt continued to star primarily in films of Italian production, and in 1990 she was cast in “Bride of Violence” (“Vendetta: Secrets of a Mafia Bride”) TV series. In 1993, Carol reprised her role of Nancy Pertinace in its sequel “Bride of Violence 2”, while in 1994 she starred as Kelly LaRew in the “Thunder in Paradise” TV series. All these accomplishments made a significant contribution to the overall size of Carol Alt’s wealth.
In 1998, Alt starred as Marci in the “King of the Hill” TV series, and in 1999 she appeared as Karen Oldham in the “Amazon” TV series. Another memorable role came in 2004 when Carol portrayed Lori Dale in Paul Ziller’s action horror film “Shakehead Terror”. Apart from all those already mentioned above, she has added several other memorable roles on-screen to her acting portfolio, including movies “Twisted Fortune” (2007) and “Stealing Chanel” (2015) as well as the “Piper – La Serie” TV mini-series.
