James Douglas was born on the 7th April, 1960, in Columbus, Ohio USA, and is a retired professional boxer. The peak of his career was his victory over the well known boxer Mike Tyson, on the 11th February 1990, thereby winning the undisputed world heavyweight title. Buster Douglas accumulated most of his net worth being active in professional boxing from 1981 to 1999.

To begin with, Buster Douglas was a child of the professional boxer William Douglas, well known as Dynamite. He was educated at Linden McKinley High School, where he was involved in sports, including being a member of the American Football and basketball teams, leading the team to the state basketball championship, Class AAA. Later, he played basketball representing the Coffeyville Community College Red Ravens (1977 – 1978). For his achievements Buster has been inducted into the Coffeyville Community College Men’s Basketball Hall of Fame. Having played for Sinclair Community College (1979 – 1980), he continued his career playing in the team of Mercyhurst University. Afterwards, he decided to get back to Columbus to pursue a career in boxing, which later added huge sums to Buster Douglas net worth.

Talking about his professional career, Douglas began it on the 31st May 1981 winning the fight against Dan O’Malley. According to the professional boxing record, over the next 18 years Douglas had 38 wins – 25 of which were made by knockout – six losses and one draw. Unfortunately, the mother of Douglas died a few weeks before the fight, but Buster surprised everyone, as almost all believed that Tyson would win. Aside from boxing, Buster Douglas debuted on the big screen landing a role in the science fiction comedy film “Pluto’s Plight” (2002) directed by Artie Knapp, in which Douglas created the character of FBI agent Leis, and he was subsequently portrayed in the television film “Tyson” (1995) directed by Uli Edel. Douglas was also the main object of the video game “James ‘Buster’ Douglas Knockout Boxing” (1988).
