Brian Jones Wiki Biography
Lewis Brian Hopkin Jones was born on the 28th February 1942, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. He was a musician, probably best recognized for being the founder and original leader of The Rolling Stones, one of the greatest rock bands in the history of music. His career was active from 1960 to 1969, when he passed away.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Brian Jones was? According to authoritative sources, it was estimated that the total size of Brian’s net worth was over $10 million at the time of his death, accumulated through his successful involvement in the music industry.
Brian Jones was raised in a middle class family with two sisters by his father, Lewis Blount Jones, who was an aeronautical engineer and musician who led the local church choir, and his mother, Louisa Beatrice Jones, who worked as a piano teacher. Under the influence of his parents, he became interested in music, so they bought him a saxophone when he was 15 years old, and two years later an acoustic guitar. Brian went to Dean Close School, after which he attended Cheltenham Grammar School for Boys; however, he quit his education and moved to London to pursue a career as a musician.
Initially, Brian met such musicians as Paul Jones, Alexis Korner and Jack Bruce, and he performed as a blues musician. However, he decided to form his own band, so he put an advertisement in Jazz News in May of 1962 and in no time The Rolling Stones was formed. The first stable line-up consisted of Mick Jagger, Ian Stewart, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Bill Wyman and Brian. The band’s debut self-titled album was released via Decca Records in 1964, which proved to be a huge accomplishment, as it was eventually certified platinum. They also released their debut album for the US through London Records, entitled “The Rolling Stones (England’s Newest Hit Makers)”, which added a considerable amount to Brian’s net worth. The second release of the band came in the same year, entitled “Five By Five” in the UK, and “12 X 5” in the US.
The following year continued successfully, releasing three studio albums– “The Rolling Stones No. 2” (UK)/ “The Rolling Stones, Now!” (US), “Out Of Our Heads”, and “December’s Children (And Everybody’s)” – all of which increased Brian’s net worth by a large margin. Their next release entitled “Aftermath” out came in 1966 and topped the UK Albums Chart, after which was released “Got Live If You Want It!” in the same year. The next year the band released two studio albums – “Between The Buttons” and “Their Satanic Majesties Request” – both of which reached gold certification and peaked at No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart. Brian also performed with them on the next album – “Beggars Banquet” – in 1968, as well as on the studio album from the following year entitled “Let It Bleed”, after which he was asked to leave the band due to his drug addiction and problems with the law.
To speak further about his career, Brian also collaborated with other musicians, including the single “You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)” with the Beatles, and Bob Dylan’s song “All Along The Watchtower”, which he performed with Jimi Hendrix, among others, all of which increased his wealth.
When it comes to his personal life, Brian Jones never married, but was the father of five children, all of whom were placed for adoption. He was addicted to drugs and alcohol, so he had huge problems with the law. He passed away at the age of 27 on the 3rd July 1969 in Hartfield, Sussex, England, as a result of drowning in a swimming pool while under the influence of drugs.
