Bret Bielema Wiki Biography

Bret Arnold Bielema is a college American Football coach, born on 13th January 1970 in Prophetstown, Illinois USA. He held the position of head coach at University of Wisconsin-Madison for six years, and currently serves as head coach at the University of Arkansas.

Have you ever wondered how rich Bret Bielema is? According to sources it has been estimated that Bret Bielema’s overall net worth is $8 million, as of July 2017, accumulated through a prosperous sports career which has started in the early ’90s. Since he is still active as a coach, his wealth continues to increase.

Bret started his career as a football player at the University of Iowa, where he played as a defensive lineman for three years untill 1992, starting his senior season as team captain. When it comes to his studies, Bielema graduated with a BA in marketing, after which he went on to play in the Arena Football League for the Milwaukee Mustangs, but soon decided he was more interested in coaching. In 1994 Bret landed his first position as a graduate assistant coach with the Iowa Hawkeyes, and a year later became the team’s linebackers coach – a position he kept until 2001. His net worth was now well established.

The following year he transferred to the Kansas State Wildcats team to be their co-defensive coordinator, but stayed only for a year as he soon went on to be the Wisconsin Badgers’ defensive coordinator, then after a year in this position, Bielema became the team’s head coach. In the first season on his new position, Bret led the team to impressive victory against San Diego State, which made him the third Wisconsin head coach who won the first three games of his career. He even expanded his success in November that same year when he tied the record for most wins after a victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes, which made him the first head coach in Big Ten history to win ten games in his first season, but then In January 2007, Bret earned the title of the third coach in NCAA history to win 12 games in his first season., including leading the team to another important victory, when they defeated the no.1 ranked Ohio State in October 2010, their first vicotry over a no.1 ranked team since 1981. Due to his success, Bret was one of the finalists for the 2010 Bear Bryant Award.

Two years later, Bielema decided to transfer to the Arkansas Razorbacks team to be their head coach. One of the reasons for his decision, as he stated, was his wish to play in the Southeastern Conference, and the feeling of dissatisfaction as his assistant coaches weren’t paid enough. However, he started his first season with the Razorbacks with a shoulder injury which significantly influenced his abilities throughout the season, and contributed to the team’s worst season since 1992. After recovering, Bret managed to regain control and improve his impact, so the team finished their second season with a notably better result. The following season showed Bret’s full capacity as he led the team to another record and ended the year by defeating Bill Snyder, one of his mentors.

Overall, Bielema is currently the highest paid employee in Arkansas and the 9th highest paid head coach in the SEC. He signed a two-year contract with Arkansas through the 2020 season.

Privately, Bielema has been married to Jen Hielsberg since March 2012, and the couple is expecting a baby. He was featured on Bo Mattingly’s radio show called “Being Bret Bielema” in February 2016.
