Brad Johnson Wiki Biography
James Bradley Johnson was born on 13 September 1968, in Marietta, Georgia USA, and is a retired professional American Football player, best known from playing in the National Football League (NFL) as a quarterback for several teams, and for being the only player in NFL history to complete a touchdown pass to himself. He was active from 1992 to 2008, and all of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Brad Johnson? As of late-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $15 million, mostly earned through success in professional football, including helping the Tampa Bay Buccaneers win Super Bowl XXXVII. As he continues his endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
Brad attended Charles D. Owen High School where he played basketball and football. He received All-American honors as a quarterback, and after matriculating he would then attend Florida State University. He played for the Florida States Seminoles men’s basketball team but then joined the football team in 1988, and helped the team win the 1989 Sugar Bowl. The following year, he won the Fiesta Bowl with the Seminoles and also won the Blockbuster Bowl in 1991. Florida State would also win the Cotton Bowl Classic in 1992.
Johnson joined the 1992 NFL Draft, and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings during the ninth round – he would appear sporadically in the next two years. In 1994, he became the backup to Warren Moon and would start to find more playing time. The following year he also joined the World League team, the London Monarchs before returning to the Vikings. In 1996, he would then earn NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors, playing in place of Moon when he was injured. He made his postseason debut in the NFC Wild Card game but lost against the Dallas Cowboys. Brad would continue improving and playing well, and in 1997 he became the first player to complete a pass to himself for a touchdown, although from a deflection, and so won the NFL Play of the Year award. He played with the Vikings in 1998 before being traded to the Washington Redskins.
As part of the Redskins, Brad would achieve career highs in several statistics, and would make his first career Pro Bowl appearance in 2000. After his contract ended with Washington, he would go on to sign with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he broke team records including passing yards and completions, and so was given a further contract which increased his net worth significantly. He led them to their first ever Super Bowl championship along with a second Super Bowl appearance in 2002. In 2003, he won the NFL “Quarterback Challenge”, however, due to salary cap problems, he was cut from the team, and returned to the Vikings as a backup quarterback, but would take over as starting quarterback after an injury to the starter. At the age of 38 he became one of the oldest starting quarterbacks, but struggled throughout the season.
Johnson then signed a three year deal with the Dallas Cowboys which increased his net worth further in 2007, but played only a few games throughout the next two seasons before being released in 2009, and retiring. Although not as well regarded as other quarterbacks, Johnson is the only player to complete over 60% of pass attempts for 13 consecutive seasons.
For his personal life, it is known that Brad has been married to Nikki since 1999, and they have two children. The family resides in Athens, Georgia. His brother-in-law is University of Miami football team head football coach Mark Richt.
