Bernard Goldberg, born to a family of Jewish heritage, grew up in New York City and graduated from Rutgers University in 1967. From there, he started his career as a writer and slowly worked his way up the ladder. In 1972, he was hired by CBS News as a producer, and worked for two years before becoming a reporter in 1974.
