Benjamin Michael Rattray Wiki Biography

Benjamin Michael Rattray, born on the 16th of June 1980, is an American entrepreneur who became known as the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Change.org, an online petition website.

So how much is Rattray’s net worth? As of mid-2017, based on authoritative sources, it is reported to be $2 million acquired from his business over the last 10 years.

Born in Santa Barbara, California, Rattray is the son of Judy McCaffrey and Michael Rattray. Judy is a country sales manager at First American Title, while his father is the CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Barbara County; he also has four siblings.

Rattray attended Dos Pueblos High School and later on graduated with a degree in political science and economics from Stanford University. He also pursued further studies at the London School of Economics.

Originally, Rattray planned a career in investment banking, but a conversation with his brother changed his mind. After learning what his younger brother had gone through after coming out of the closet as a homosexual, Rattray felt the need to stand up for the people who can’t stand up for themselves.

In 2007, Rattray launched Change.org from his home – the website started out as a social network for social activities, then he later on turned it into a cause-based blogging platform, and now to a petition platform that became effective in 2011. The success of Change.org has tremendously helped his wealth.

Change.org became a powerful tool for people who don’t have access to communications to easily gather tens of thousands of people in public. Lots of organizations have used Change.org to at least attempt to bring immediate change to society, forcing giant companies and even governments to act legally and/or ethically.

With the success of Change.org, Rattray also became a prominent face in the world of business and technology. In 2012, he was included in Time magazine’s list of the “100 Most Influential People in the World”. That same year, he was also among the 40 under 40 of Fortune’s rising young business leaders, and in 2014, he was also given the Commonwealth Club of California’s 21st Century Visionary Award.

Today, Rattray continues to lead Change.org. He has been featured in multiple magazines and television shows, as well as in The New York Times, Washington Post, on CNN and NPR. With his rise to fame, Change.org also continues to succeed, with over 100 million members, countless petitions, and backing from some of the most prominent people on the planet including Richard Branson, Bill Gates and Arianna Huffington to name a few.

In terms of his personal life, Rattray is currently single, stating that he “has no time for a girlfriend”.
