Barbara Walters is a famous American author, journalist, television producer, as well as a talk show host. Barabara Walters is perhaps best known for hosting such famous talk shows as “Today”, currently hosted by Carson Daly and Tamron Hall, and “The View”. The latter talk show was co-created by Walters and Bill Geddie. For a long period of time Walters, was not only a host and creator of the show, but also its producer. Barbara Walters left the show in 2014, together with Sherri Shepherd and Jenny McCarthy. Considered to be among the longest running shows in history, “The View” is presently hosted by Whoopi Goldberg.

Prior to becoming a huge success, Barbara Walters worked at an advertising agency and then went on to work for WNBT-TV, an NBC network affiliate, where she wrote press releases. Walters then produced a short children’s show entitled “Ask the Camera”, and worked as a producer on “TV Host” and “Eloise McElhone Show” before she received an opportunity to write for “The Morning Show”. In 1961, Walters expanded to writing for other shows as well and that year she started working for NBC, namely one of their most successful shows called “The Today Show”.

Walters soon climbed the career ladder and moved on from writing to becoming a part of the famous “Today Girls” and later, in 1974, became the first female host of the show. Several years later, Walters joined forces with Harry Reasoner on the “ABC Evening News” and also began hosting “20/20”. Throughout her career as a journalist, Barbara Walters had an opportunity to interview some of the most famous people in the world, including Fidel Castro, Margaret Thatcher, Hugo Chavez, Michael Jackson, Katherine Hepburn and Monica Lewinsky to name a few.

In 1997, Walters co-created a popular talk show and entertainment program called “The View” but retired as a host in 2014. However, Walters is still working as an executive producer on the show. An inductee to the Television Hall of Fame, Barbara Walters left a remarkable contribution to the entertainment industry, both as a host, executive producer and a writer. Barbara Walters had been honored with the Disney Legends award, Lifetime Achievement Award, which she received from New York Women’s Agenda, as well as Lucy Award for her creative works.

In addition to appearing on screens, Walters has published books, namely “How to Talk with Practically Anybody about Practically Anything”, which became a huge hit, and “Audition: A Memoir” released in 2008.
