His career has been active since 1985.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Anthony LaPaglia is, as of mid-2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Anthony’s net worth is over $6 million, accumulated through his successful involvement in the film industry as a professional actor. Another source is coming from his owning the Australian soccer club – Sydney FC.
Anthony LaPaglia was born to Gedio LaPaglia, who was an auto mechanic and car dealer, and Maria Johannes, who worked as a secretary and was a former model; he is the older brother of actor Jonathan LaPaglia. He attended Norwood High School, then enrolled at Rostrevor College. At the same time, he took acting classes at South Australian Castings Agency, before he moved to Los Angeles, and started pursuing a career in the film industry.
Thus, Anthony’s acting career began in 1985, when he made a guest-appearance in the TV series “Amazing Stories”, directed by Steven Spielberg. Two years later, he made his debut film appearance in “Cold Steel”, which was followed by the title role in the TV film “Frank Nitti: The Enforcer” (1988). This marked the beginning of an increase of his net worth, and by the end of the decade he had also starred in such titles as “Mortal Sins” (1989) and “Betsy’s Wedding” (1990).
He continued to line up successes during the 1990s by appearing in such roles as Frank Pesce, Jr. in “29th Street” (1991), playing Det. Sgt. James Quinlan in “The Custodian” (1993), for which he was nominated for an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role, and as Joe Reaves in “Empire Records” (1995). In the following year, Anthony was chosen to portray Jimmy Wyler in the TV series “Murder One” (1996-1997) and then its sequel “Murder One: Diary OF A Serial Killer” (1997), after which he appeared in a number of film titles. In 2000, he won the role of Simon Moon in the TV series “Frasier”, which lasted until 2004, earning him an Emmy Award in 2002. All of these roles added a considerable amount to his net worth.
The 2000s brought new roles for Andrew, increasing further his popularity and his net worth. In 2001, he was cast as Detective Leon Zat in the Australian film entitled “Lantana”, for which he won Australian Film Institute, Film Critics Circle of Australia and IF Best Actor Awards, increasing his net worth by a large margin. In the following year came his next big role, when he was selected to play Jack Malone in the TV series “Without A Trace” through 2009, which contributed a lot to his wealth and earned him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in 2004. In 2009, he also appeared in the role of Roger East in another Australian film, entitled “Balibo”, for which he won an Australian Film Institute Award, and Film Critics Circle of Australia Award.

Anthony LaPaglia Quotes
- And when you started looking into Roger East, it was almost like he had disappeared from history.
- I had a vocal coach. It’s a sad thing, but I had to hire someone so that I could get my Australian accent back.
- I like the Baldwin boys a great deal. Alec is super-smart, super-articulate, almost too smart to be an actor.
- My accent’s become a weird hybrid.
- So I built my entire career in the United States and that’s why it feels like I’m an American actor.
- A lot of people think I’m that guy in ‘Betsy’s Wedding’, but I’m not. What it is for me is that, on some level, I connect with the character emotionally.
- For the most part, the American film market has become very corporatised, even independent film to a degree, and because of the corporate management mentality, they want to take the safe way.
- I can’t find my car keys in the morning. Trying to get out of my house is a nightmare. ‘Where’s my wallet? Where are my keys? I have to go find a missing person.’
- Steve Martin is one of the most intelligent, well-read human beings that I’ve ever come across. He is equally as funny off screen as he is on. But he also has a very intellectual side, and he’s a really nice human being. We actually become good friends.
- The whole question of God and what God is, and whether it’s a blond guy with a beard, I don’t know… I don’t know that. Do I believe that there’s something greater at work than the sum of humanity? Yeah, I think so.

- Although often cast as New York tough guys, few people know that he was actually born and raised in Australia. He has said that the only internationally successful Australian actor at the time he began acting was Mel Gibson, who had lost his Australian accent, so he did the same. Today, looking at all the hot young Australian actors who have kept their native accents but can use other dialects in their films, he says he regrets having dropped his accent.
