Anthony grew up in Elwood, Long Island, New York, where he was educated at John Glenn High School. Prior to earning his net worth as a radio host, Anthony Cumia earned his living as a ‘tin knocker’, installing air-conditioning. After becoming the founding members of the group Rotgut, a parody song contest resulted in the brothers Joe Cumia and Anthony Cumia being invited to play on the radio station, and as a result Anthony was invited to form a team of two radio hosts alongside Gregg Opie Hughes. This way, the talk show “Opie and Anthony” (1995 – 2014) began. During the existence of the show, they moved from one radio station to another. “Opie and Anthony started on rock station WAAF located in Boston, Massachusetts from 1995 to 1998. After telling their listeners a joke on April Fools’ Day that the Mayor died in a car accident while transporting a prostitute, the hosts were made redundant. After a few months they signed to WNEW-FM, a New York radio station, and continued their work. The show was cancelled after a simulated sex scene in the entrance hall of St. Patrick’s Cathedral was broadcast to the audience in 2002. However, the show managed to return on XM Satellite Radio station, from which they were also suspended after letting a homeless person tell the audience that he rapped Laura Bush and Condoleezza Rice. After 30 days of suspension the program was on air until 2012.
During the period 2012 – 2014, Cumia broadcast the show from his own home in Long Island. In 2014, he decided to quit with the view of working on his own podcast “The Anthony Cumia Show” (2014 – present). The show focuses on commenting on politics, pop culture and other events as well as the personal life of Anthony. Being such a controversial personality Cumia prefers to be his own boss. However, he claims he would like to have a partner as a co-host. The above mentioned shows increased the net worth of Anthony Cumia the most.
More, the financial success of such endeavours as the television program “XFL Gameday” which he hosted for four weeks in 2001, compilation segments entitled “Demented World” (1997), and comedy tour “Opie and Anthony’s Traveling Virus” (2006 – 2008) added significantly to the overall size of Anthony Cumia’s net worth
