Adrian Gonzalez Wiki Biography

Adrian Savin Gonzalez was born in San Diego, California USA, on 8 May 1982, and is a professional baseball player of Mexican descent, currently playing as first baseman for the Major League Baseball (MLB) team the Los Angeles Dodgers. During his career, Gonzalez has played for a number of MLB clubs, including the Texas Rangers, San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox. Gonzalez is well-known to the fans as the first baseman to have been selected to four consecutive MLB All-Star games, from 2008 to 2011.

So how rich is Adrian Gonzalez? Sources estimate that Gonzalez’ net worth is over $60 million as of early 2017, with most of his wealth having come from his long-lasting and successful baseball career. His most recent contract was a lucrative 7-year deal worth $154 million with the Boston Red Sox (later traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers), which he signed in 2011.

Gonzalez was born to Mexican parents, David (father) and Alba (mother) Gonzalez, and hails from a well-known baseball family, as both of his older brothers, David Jr. and Edgar, as well as his father David Sr. were also professional players. Adrian Gonzalez grew up in Tijuana, Mexico, where David Sr. managed a small air-conditioner company, before moving to Bonita, California in 1990. After graduating from Eastlake High School in Chula Vista, California, Gonzalez chose going professional before accepting a scholarship from the University of Miami. It proved to be a good decision, as he was selected as the number one overall pick for the Florida Marlins in the 2000 MLB Draft. While being a member of the Marlins, Gonzalez played for some minor league teams, such as the Gulf Coast League Marlins, Kane County Cougars, Utica Blue Sox, Portland Sea Dogs (all in 2002), Albuquerque Isotopes and Carolina Mudcats (2003). During his spell at the Kane County Cougars in the Midwest League, he was named the Most Valuable Player & Top Prospect in the league, and so played in the All-Star Futures Game. After he injured his wrist in 2003, the Marlins organization traded him to the Texas Rangers, where he stayed for two seasons, recording 59 games. In 2006, the Rangers traded him to the San Diego Padres, where he stayed for the next five seasons, appearing in 799 games. In late 2010, Gonzalez was traded to the Boston Red Sox, where he played another two seasons and 282 games in total. On 25 August, 2012, Adrian Gonzalez signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, for whom he has played 823 games to date.

In addition to his rich club career, Adrian Gonzalez also represented the Mexican national baseball team in the World Baseball Classic qualifiers in 2016.

Gonzalez and his wife Betsy reside in the San Diego County community of La Jolla; they have two daughters. The Gonzalez family also have a charity foundation named “The Adrian and Betsy Gonzalez Foundation”, whose goal is to empower underprivileged youth in areas of athletics, education and health. Gonzalez is a devoted Christian, and he is known for saying “I don’t want to be remembered in baseball. I want to be remembered as a good witness for Christ. … I’m just trying to use this platform to bring people to Christ”.
