- On 19 January 2002, in a playoff game against the Oakland Raiders on a snow-covered field, Vinatieri kicked a 45-yard field goal that tied the game at 13-13. The Patriots won the game 16-13 (on another Vinatieri field goal) and went on to win their first Super Bowl. “Kick-Starting a Dynasty” was ranked #7 in TV Guide’s list of the “25 Most Awesome Sports Moments (of the last 15 years)”.
