Have you ever wondered how rich Colin Cowherd is? According to sources it is estimated that Colin`s net worth is $12 million, an amount earned through his successful career mostly on ESPN, however he has signed a contract with Fox Sports, which is due to start in September 2015.
Cowherd was born in Grayland; his childhood was not something he gladly recalls, as his parents divorced, and not just that, they both remarried several times. His career on radio started soon after graduation from Eastern Washington University, as a play-by-play voice for the Las Vegas Stars of Pacific Coast League. Following his successful debut he continued working there and eventually became sports director at the KVBC in Las Vegas, where in addition he was named Nevada`s Sportscaster of the Year five times. This was the start of his net worth growth.
His career slowly began to take its shape, and he was working more and more. He secured a job as the sports anchorman on weekends at WTVT-TV, which is based in Florida. After that, in 1996 he moved to Portland, Oregon, and started working for KGWTV in the same position as on WTVT-TV. However, he didn`t have that much influence on the public in his shows until 2003, when he was selected to replace Tony Kornheiser for the morning show on ESPN radio. From that point his voice could be heard nationwide through his own show, “The Herd with Colin Cowherd”. It is a syndicated talk show that focuses on sport news and interviews with sports personalities. The show has another part, which is called Spanning the Globe, where Colin talks about sport news around the world, which deserved to be headlined. Of course these positions increased his net worth considerably.
Colin also co-hosted the TV show “Sports Nation” in the period from 2009 to 2012, on ESPN2; however he announced that he would leave for radio broadcasting, as his heart was more into that fashion of talking with the public. In 2013 he became the host of the ESPN Sunday morning pro and college football talk show, which was named “Colin`s New Football Show”. This show contained one particular segment, called “Blazing Five”, in which Colin would pick five games each week and share his keen predictions of those games. This show increased his popularity and added substantial amounts to his net worth, which had already been benefiting for his involvement on TV and radio. It is reported that his salary is $2 million.
He also published a book in 2013 called, “You Herd Me! I’ll Say It If Nobody Else Will”. His career can be rendered as a successful, but has also had its downfalls. The reasons for that are some of Colin`s particular statements for which he was highly criticized, and lead him to an eventual suspension and premature contract ending with ESPN. However, Colin soon managed to seal a contract with Fox Sports, which is due to start in September.
Colin Cowherd’s successful career has earned him a few awards as well, which also helped increase his net worth; notable ones are Sport`s Illustrated Radio Personality of the Year in 2005, Rated by PunditTracker as the Best Pundit of 2012 for his sports predictions in 2012, and already mentioned, five times Nevada`s Sportscaster of the Year.
Regarding his personal life, Colin has two children from his first marriage to Kimberley Ann Vadala(1996-2007). In 2010 he married his second wife, Ann. He is a father of six children, however only two of them are his, and others are his stepchildren. Most of the time, Colin manages to keep his personal life private.
