Andy Richter Wiki Biography
Paul Andrew Richter was born on 28 October 1966, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, of Swedish and German descent. Andy is a comic actor, writer and TV star, perhaps best known for his roles in the American late-night talk show “Late Night with Conan O`Brien”, which aired on NBC from 1993 to 2009. Andy has also appeared in the show`s sequel named “The Tonight Show with Conan O`Brien”.
So just how rich is a popular American comedian Andy Richter? Sources estimate that Andy’s net worth is $15 million, which wealth he has managed to save mostly from his activities on TV in the US.
Andy Richter’s parents were mother Glenda, a kitchen cabinet designer, and father Laurence who taught Russian at Indiana University. However, his parents divorced when he was four, and his father later came out as gay. Andy graduated from Yorkville High School in 1984, and then studied at Columbia College, Chicago as a film major, where he learned comedic acting and writing by starring in numerous student films and videos. After graduating from Columbia in 1988, Richter worked filming commercials and then took classes at Chicago’s Improv Olympic, where he progressed to house performer within a year: Andy’s net worth began growing.
Andy Richter then joined The Comedy Underground and the Annoyance Theater, first adding to his net worth as an announcer, and later as a sidekick in these shows, including appearing on “Conan”, another late night talk show which was aired on TBS.
Andy Richter has added a large amount of money to his net worth while being a voice talent, too. Most notably, the actor voiced the character named Mort in the movies “Madagascar” (2005), “Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa” (2008), “Madagascar 3: Europe`s Most Wanted” (2012) and “Madly Madagascar” (2013). Richter voiced in other films too, including a Japanese animated drama film “The Cat Returns” (2002), an American comedy “Lenny the Wonder Dog” (2005), and a video game “Halo 4” (2012).
In 2000, Andy decided to leave “Late Night Show” to focus on movies and TV series’. As for television, Andy Richter has enlarged his net worth while appearing in a wide variety of shows, including such sitcoms as “Andy Richter Controls the Universe”, “Quintuplets”, and “Andy Barker P.I.” Although some of the sitcoms were cancelled, they still increased Andy Richter’s net worth.
Created by Linwood Boomer, “Malcolm in the Middle” (2000 – 2006) was another source of Andy Richter’s net worth. In 2005, Andy appeared in “Will & Grace”, a popular American sitcom aired on NBC from 1998 to 2006. Andy Richter has also performed in such TV series as “Arrested Development”, “The New Adventures of Old Christine”, and in such TV shows as “The Mighty B!”, and “Pyramid” among others. As a writer, Andy is known for writing a TV show “Jonathan Brandmeier”.
To mention the most notable film roles in Andy Richter career as an actor, they include such movies as a parody film “Scary Movie 2” (2001), “Run Ronnie Run” (2002), an American comedy “Big Trouble” (2002), a romantic comedy “My Boss`s Daughter” (2003), and a science fiction comedy “Aliens in the Attic” (2009). Andy`s most recent project that helped increase his net worth is a comedy “The Millers” (2014).
As himself, Andy Richter has appeared in such documentaries as “Barenaked in America” (1999), “Kids in the Hall: Same Guys, New Dresses” (2001), “Gigantic (A Tale of Two Johns)” (2002), “End of the Century” (2003), “The Aristocrats” (2005), and “Conan O`Brien Can`t Stop” (2011). There are no doubts these roles have added solid sums to Andy Richter’s net worth.
As regards Andy Richter`s personal life, he has been married to the actress Sarah Thyre since 1994, and the couple have welcomed two children named William and Mercy. Both Andy and Sarah are comedy actors, and together they have appeared in “Hansel and Gretel” and “Strangers with Candy”.

Andy Richter Quotes
- The people on ‘Quintuplets’ were great, but I wasn’t a producer on that show, and it wasn’t exactly my taste.
- It’s a very nice thing to have a baby.
- Well, I refer to ‘Celebrity Jeopardy ‘ as the short-bus ‘Jeopardy,’ because it is a lot easier. Like, there was a whole column basically naming stores in New York.
- It’s funny, because ‘Arrested Development’ is tied to Andy Richter in a few different ways. For me personally, after I did Andy Richter, one of the next things I did was a show called ‘Quintuplets’ for a season for Fox, and this was while ‘Arrested Development’ was on. I used to go over and hang out on their set.
- If you start to just aim for what the audience wants to hear, you’re already hamstrung because you don’t have any freedom.
- We’ve been swimming at nude beaches and I love to go skinny dipping, but I’m sorry, sitting on top of a mountain, that’s just, you’re trying to show off or something. That’s ridiculous.
- Some people are born with a brain that has this weird, magical mathematical thing that makes them an amazing jazz musician.
- No, I don’t know any Emily Dickinson poems!
- Anything that I read, I read because I’m interested in it.
- If somebody’s looking at pictures of naked people and you go, ‘Oh I don’t want to see that,’ you’re lying. Cause naked people are always interesting. Always. Whether they’re beautiful, or naked or 500 pounds.
- I’m not that professional.
- I watch mediocre shows that have been on for three or four seasons, and feel angry at them.
- But I don’t read a lot of fiction. I prefer the nonfiction stuff.
- I mean, I’ll say the filthiest things in the world, but when it comes down to it, I’m kind of a prude.
- I want to get back and figure out how we’re going to make ‘The Tonight Show’ funny and good.
- At a very basic level, I think television exists for game shows, and I think it always will.
- There are naked people in boots on a mountain top firing guns.
- The basic equation that mystified me as a young man was looking at guys who could actually get girls. I was always amazed, because they never seemed to care. I was like, ‘How do they do that?’
- The desire to do different things was the main motivator that made me leave late night because I’d been there seven years. The combination of an entrepreneurial desire to see how far I could push my success and a short attention span. But now I’ve done other things. And I’m sort of ready to sit somewhere and sit in the same place for a while.
- I’ve always tried to be nice to people, so that sort of translates into popularity, I guess.
- I wouldn’t want to be a talk show host. That’s another awkward compliment people make. ‘You should have your own talk show.’ And I think, no thank you.
- I briefly considered doing Edgar Allan Poe and just swearing a lot.
- I was prom king. Which is actually saying I was the sixth most popular, because the five who were on homecoming were automatically disqualified from prom, so of course I have to look at it that way.
- Since she got a cause and stopped being funny. I think she’s real funny, but lately it’s all been hearts and flowers and tears and saving teenagers and creating a role model. And that ain’t funny. No giggles there.
- Because homecoming came first, and there was the homecoming court. The five guys on homecoming court were disqualified from being in the prom court. So being prom king was being sixth most popular.
