Dave Navarro Wiki Biography
American guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, singer and songwriter David Michael Navarro – more commonly just Dave Navarro – is one of the best known figures in the alternative rock scene, and has accrued an estimated net worth of around $25 million during his career in this field. Most famous for his work with the alternative rock band “Jane’s Addiction” – being one of its original founders – Dave Navarro has worked with several famous groups over his career as a guitarist, and has had his fair share of scandalous departures as well. Performing with such greats like “Guns N’ Roses”, “Red Hot Chili Peppers” and Michael Jackson, Navarro has certainly left his mark on the world of music, and his considerable net worth clearly reflects as much.
Born on 7 June 1967 in the city of Santa Monica, California, Dave Navarro has been drawn to music ever since childhood. Navarro has been quoted saying that he first started playing the guitar at the young age of seven – having been captivated by a Jimi Hendrix song he happened to overhear. By the time Navarro was 19, he joined vocalist Perry Farrell, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins in forming the alternative rock band “Jane’s Addiction”. “Jane’s Addiction” would prove to be an outstanding success – among the first alternative rock groups to draw widespread attention and go on to worldwide fame. Navarro certainly had a big part in the group’s initial success, being the last of its founding members to have joined “Jane’s Addiction” and providing his guitar talent to the band’s first commercially successful album release – titled “Nothing’s Shocking”. Due to controversial content, the album was not as huge a success as it could’ve been, but “Jane’s Addiction” nonetheless went on to tour together with Iggy Pop and “Ramones”.
Unfortunately, in 1991, the strong and conflicting personalities at work in the group led to “Jane’s Addiction” breaking up – with Dave Navarro leaving the band over disagreements with Farrell and a desire to free himself of his drug addiction. Nonetheless, by the time the group dissolved, “Jane’s Addiction” was already famous across the world, and its second album “Ritual de lo Habitual” went on to fame and commercial success – certainly adding to Navarro’s net worth. Navarro would go on to work with “Red Hot Chili Peppers” in 1993, but was fired in 1998, having contributed to only one of the band’s albums, “One Hot Minute”. A number of attempts to reform “Jane’s Addiction” would follow, as well as appearances on various television shows and commercials.
How rich is Dave Navarro? Currently, Navarro’s net worth is believed to be around $25 million. Most of this is down to Navarro’s long and successful career as a guitarist and performer with various bands and by himself – Dave has worked with “Jane’s Addiction” and “Red Hot Chili Peppers”, and has collaborated with several other famous groups, including “Nine Inch Nails” and “Guns N’ Roses”. Despite releasing one solo album, “Trust No One”, Dave Navarro has claimed that solo work is not for him – “as great an experience as that was, it’s not what I want to do full time.”
Today, Dave Navarro remains part of various television projects, including being the host of the reality show “Ink Master”. Navarro has been married thrice, most recently to model Carmen Electra. The couple divorced in 2006 after three years of marriage.

Dave Navarro Quotes
- Yeah, I can read music and I know the names of chords.
- I’ve always recorded the same way. I put down as many ideas as I have, then strip them away at the mixdown. It’s better to have too much music than not enough.
- I’ve done a lot of talk shows where you can tell that the host is just thinking about what he wants to say next while you’re answering him and that’s really uncomfortable.
- I’m not the type of player to sit home and practice scales and work on runs.
- I’m thrilled I have the opportunity to do the ‘Spread’ show and have the terrific sponsors that we work with like Nikon or Verizon.
- Jane’s Addiction has only put out new music when our hearts were in and when we had something to say creatively.
- Men are much more aggressive with their advances.
- So as long as I can do the music or create, I’ll feel fine.
- For me, it doesn’t matter how difficult something is, it doesn’t matter how impressive it is, it’s what sounds best that really counts.
- Guitar playing is just something that came to me and is really second nature now.
- I wish I was a shredder that could play everything, but I don’t have the patience.
- I’m as obsessive with health as I was with destruction.
- I’m either shooting nine grams of coke a day or spending two hours at the gym. There’s no middle ground.
- There have been times when I felt suicidal and I would stop my head from going in that direction of negativity because I thought there’d be something I’d miss that was funny in the future. If there’s a chance I’m going to laugh tomorrow then want to live to experience that.
- It’s impossible to compare two bands. It would be like comparing two lovers.
- And I’ve also come to the conclusion that, as far as guitar solos and things like that are concerned, it’s more important to complement the music rather than take away from it.
- I have never been sexually aroused by a man. But I have yet to kiss Johnny Depp, so you never know.
- As a viewer of television if there’s something I don’t like or find offensive, I just don’t watch it.
