Bruno Tonioli Wiki Biography
Bruno Tonioli was born on 25 November 1955, in Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy. He is a television personality, choreographer, and dancer, best known for appearing as a judge on British TV dance competition shows; he’s been a part of “Strictly Come Dancing” and “Dancing with the Stars”. All of his efforts have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is Bruno Tonioli? As of mid-2016, sources estimate a net worth that is at $10 million, mostly earned through success on television. He reportedly earns $30,000 per episode in his contract with “Dancing with the Stars”. He’s also helped create numerous dance shows such as “Dance X”, and all of these ensured the position of his wealth.
Early in his career, Bruno worked as a freelance dancer, initially in Paris as a member of La Grande Eugene; later on, he would work for the Lindsay Kemp Company, and find opportunities as a choreographer. He had various projects such with stage shows and music videos, and worked with many big names including Tina Turner, Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Boy George, and Duran Duran. Some of his works during this time included “Venus” and “Election Day” by Arcadia. He would then go on and work on several films, of which “The Parole Officer”, “The Gathering Storm”, and “Ella Enchanted” were a few. He also had several television projects, such as “The Scarlet Pimpernel” and “Miss Marple’s The Body in the Library”. His talents were also used for stage productions – “The Man Who Thinks He’s It”, “Godspell”, and “Forbidden Passion” in which he also had a small role.
His popularity has helped him to be associated with annual events such as “Miss World”, “The BRIT Awards” and “Top of the Pops”. He became recognized around the world, and was even invited to numerous talk shows in the United States, including “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”, and “The Soup”. Eventually, he started making his own shows, creating “Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie-Ann” in 2008; Bruno’s team would win the show and get a contract with Hollywood Records. The following year, he became a judge in “Strictly Come Dancing”, appearing in around 90 live shows for two years, and then becoming a judge in “Dancing with the Stars”. He gained popularity as a judge, especially because he is able to come up with unusual descriptions for the performances of the contestants. All shows benefited his net worth.
Aside from dancing, Tonioli released an autobiography in 2012, entitled “Bruno Tonioli: My Story”. During this time he also appeared in a commercial by Dole and became a homeowner in the game show “Through the Keyhole”, on which he also served as a panelist in 2015.
For his personal life, it is known that Bruno is fluent in five languages which are French, Spanish, English, Portuguese, and Italian. He is also gay, and has spoken about how he was bullied during his youth because of it. Aside from that, he had a bit of controversy with Michael Bolton who was a contestant in “Dancing with the Stars”, after he had spoken about how his jive was the worst he had ever seen. Bolton expressed disappointment with the media, and it prompted ABC to defend Tonioli.
