Jessica Brooke Capshaw Wiki Biography
Jessica Brooke Capshaw was born on 9 August 1976, in Columbia, Missouri USA, to actress and producer Kate Capshaw, and marketing director, sales manager, business executive and high school principal Robert Capshaw, of British, German, Belgian and French descent. She is the stepdaughter of the acclaimed director Steven Spielberg. Capshaw is an actress, probably best known for her role as lawyer Jamie Stringer in the legal drama series “The Practice” and as Dr. Arizona Robbins in the medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy”.
A talented actress, how rich is Jessica Capshaw at present? Sources state that Capshaw has acquired a net worth over $20 million, as of mid-2016. Her fortune has been accumulated during her acting career, which began in the late 1990s.
After her parents divorced when she was three years old, Capshaw moved to Los Angeles with her mother, who was pursuing an acting career. She attended L.A.’s Harvard-Westlake School and after her matriculation in 1994, she enrolled in Rhode Island’s Brown University, graduating in 1998 with a degree in English. She then took acting classes at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, England. However, Capshaw had become involved in acting while she was still in high school, working as an intern on the set of Spielberg’s 1993 classic “Schindler’s List”. She made her film debut with a minor role in the 1997 drama “The Locusts” and went on to land several other minor film parts as well as a few television guest appearances. Her net worth was now established.
Her first major role came in 1999, when she was cast as Aunt Jordan in the television series “Odd Man Out”. Although the series lasted only one season, it served as an ideal showcase for Capshaw’s talent, and opened many doors for the rising actress. In 2001 she appeared in the leading role as Dorothy Wheeler in the slasher film “Valentine”. The following year she played Daisy Valdemar in the film “The Mesmerist”, and Evanna in the psychological thriller “Minority Report”. Her net worth was starting to rise.
In 2002 Capshaw got the opportunity to become a part of the hit ABC television series “The Practice”. She joined the show during its seventh season, playing the oversexed lawyer Jamie Stringer, a role which significantly contributed to her popularity and to her net worth as well.
Now a recognized figure in the acting world, Capshaw went on to land a leading role as Jen in the 2006 comedy film “The Groomsmen”, and a recurring role in the popular television series “Bones” the same year. The following year saw her starring as Cassie Stewart in the film “Blind Trust”, as well as having a recurring role as lesbian Nadia Christ in the hit television series “The L Word”. All added to her wealth.
In 2009 Capshaw was cast as a pediatric surgeon Dr. Arizona Robbins in the acclaimed ABC medical drama series “Grey’s Anatomy”, and has remained a part of the show’s main cast ever since, winning high praises for her performance of Dr. Robins. She has gained a huge number of fans in the gay and lesbian community as well, as this has been the second role as a lesbian in Capshaw’s career. Aside from making her a Hollywood star, her involvement in “Grey’s Anatomy” has considerably improved the actress’ wealth.
When it comes to her personal life, Capshaw has been married to entrepreneur Christopher Gavigan since 2004. The couple has four children together.
