Michael James “Mike” Ness Wiki Biography
Michael James “Mike” Ness was born on the 3rd April 1962, in Lynn, Massachusetts USA, and is a musician, singer, songwriter and guitarist, probably best known for being a founding member of Social Distortion, a punk rock group which has released seven studio albums. He is also known for his two solo studio albums, entitled “Cheating At Solitaire” and “Under The Influences”. His career has been active since 1978.
Have you ever wondered how rich Mike Ness is, as of mid- 2016? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that the total size of Mike’s net worth is as high as $3 million, which has been accumulated through his successful involvement in the music industry.
Mike Ness spent his childhood in Orange County, California, to where his family relocated when he was a child. His musical career began in the 1970s, when he became involved in the punk rock scene after being kicked out of house by his father at only 15 years of age. He played in several bands, and in 1978 formed the punk rock band Social Distortion, alongside Casey Royer, Frank Agnew and his brother Rikk. However, Frank and Rikk left the group, and Mike brought his friend Dennis Danell to play bass guitar. Since then, until Danell`s death in 2000, the two were constant members of the band, with drummers coming and going every few years.
With the band, Mike released seven studio albums; their debut album came out in 1983, entitled “Mommy`s Little Monster”, receiving quite positive critiques, although it didn`t become a commercial success. Mike continued with music, and five years later released the second Social Distortion album, entitled “Prison Bound”, to positive critiques once again, but another failure when it comes to chart positions and sales. After that, Mike changed labels and signed a contract with Epic Records, and in 1990 released their first album for the label entitled “Social Distortion”, which reached No. 128 on the US Billboard 200 chart, and achieved gold status, increasing Mike`s net worth by a large margin.
The next two albums were also released through the Epic label, “Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell” (1992), and “White Light, White Heat, White Trash” (1996) which reached No. 27 becoming their highest charted album at that time. The band then left Epic records, and Mike formed his own label, Time Bomb Recording, through which the band released their next album entitled “Sex, Love and Rock ‘n’ Roll” in 2004, which reached No. 31 on the Billboard chart.
Their last studio album came out in 2011, entitled “Hard Times And Nursery Rhymes”, which became their best album to date, reaching No. 4 on the Billboard 200 chart, and topping the US Independent Album chart; this added a lot to Mike`s net worth. Apart from his successful career as a band member, Mike also launched a solo career, releasing two albums “Cheating At Solitaire”, and “Under The Influence” both in 1999, which also added to his net worth.
Furthermore, Mike has featured in several film titles, including “Another State Of Mind” (1984), and “Frezno Smooth” (1999), adding a substantial amount of money to his net worth. Speaking about his personal life, Mike Ness has been married to Christine Marie since 1990, with whom he has two sons. Their current residence is in Newport Beach, California.
