Rich Little Wiki Biography
Born Richard Caruthers Little on the 26th November 1938, in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, he is an impressionist and voice actor, best known to the world for impersonating numerous celebrities, including Johnny Carson, Truman Capote, and Dean Martin, and from making countless appearances on the “Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts”.
Have you ever wondered how rich Rich Little is, as of mid-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Rich`s net worth is as high as $5 million, earned through his successful career in the entertainment industry which began in the early ‘60s.
Little is one of three sons born to Lawrence Preston Little, who was a doctor and his wife, Elizabeth. While still in high school, Rich started doing impersonations, and with Goeff Scott formed comedy duo, and began performing in Canada`s night clubs, initially focusing on impersonating Canadian politicians, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker and Ottawa mayor Charlotte Whitton.
In the 1950s, he became a part of the Elgin Movie Theatre in Ottawa, working on improving his impersonating skills, trying new voices. All this led to him releasing an album, on which is his unique recording of the “Christmas Carol”; he impersonated over 20 voices on his own to complete the show. Thanks to that, he was asked by Mel Torme to audition for the “Judy Garland Show”, and he was accepted, subsequently impersonating several celebrity stars, including James Mason. This really sparked his career, and since then, it has only gone upwards, and so has his net worth.
Rich then appeared at “The Hollywood Palace”, and since has appeared in numerous variety shows as an impressionist, but remains known for impersonating Dean Martin, and hosting the “The Dean Martin Show” from 1965 until 1974, which certainly increased his net worth by a large margin. Other shows include “The Merv Griffin Show” (1965-1979), “The Mike Douglas Show” (1965-1978), and “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson” (1967-1982), among many others.
He also launched an acting career, making his debut in “This Hour Has Seven Days” (1964), and two years later was selected for the role of Stan Parker in the TV series “Love On A Rooftop” (1966-1967). By the end of the 1960s he had made several cameo appearances in TV series such as “That Girl” (1967), “Green Acres” (1969), and “The Pink Panther Show” (1969). In 1971 he gave voice to Richard Nixon in the TV series “All In The Family”, and since then has portrayed Nixon in films “Another Nice Mess” (1972), “Bébé’s Kids” (1992), “The Presidents” (2003), and “Fan-O-Rama” (2016), which certainly increased his net worth by a large margin. Also in the 1970s he hosted his own show “The Rich Little Show” (1976), which only lasted for one season, and appeared in several TV series including “Hawaii Five-O” (1977), “Police Woman” (1977), and starring in the film “Christmas Carol”, voicing every character.
In the early 1980s Rich appeared in the films “Dirty Tricks” (1981), with Elliott Gould and Kate Jackson, and “Nuts And Bolts” (1981), and also gave the voice to David Niven`s character Sir Charles Litton in the films “Trail Of The Pink Panther” (1982) and “Curse Of The Pink Panther” (1983), as Niven had health problems. Three years later he appeared in the film “One Crazy Summer”, with John Cusack and Demi Moore, and in 1988 had his own special entitled “Rich Little: One’s a Crowd”, impersonating numerous celebrity stars. His net worth rose steadily.
After the 1980s ended, Rich focused on other things, and has made only a few appearances since, including in “The Late Shift” (1996) as Johnny Carson, and “Futurama: Bender’s Game” (2008). He is now working on the “Fan-O-Rama”, which will be released in late 2016.
Thanks to his skills, Rich has received several awards, including a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1983 for his contribution to television.
Regarding his personal life, Rich has led quite a life, being married four times. His first wife was Jeanne Worden(1971-89); they had one child. His second wife was Jeannette Markey(1994-97). In 2003 he married Marie Marotta, but she died in 2010 after a sleeping pills overdose. In 2012 he married Catherine Brown. Rich also has a daughter, Lindsay Cottrell, but her mother`s name remains unknown to the public.
Rich is recognized as a philanthropist, supporting several causes, including health, as he is a part of the Juvenile Diabetes Fund, among many other projects and organizations.

Rich Little Trademarks
- Celebrity Impersonator
Rich Little Important Facts
- Dubbed James Cagney’s voice in the 1984 TV movie “Terrible Joe Moran”. Cagney was not able to properly articulate his lines during shooting due to the effects of a stroke.
- Inducted to Canada’s Walk of Fame in 1998.
- Portrayed Richard Nixon more than any other actor in live action features.
- Has a daughter named Bria.
- Had the honor of hosting the 2007 White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on April 21, 2007. The dinner has been held each year since 1920 and often is attended by the President of the United States and other powerful figures in government, as well as members of the press and celebrities. President George W. Bush attended the 2007 dinner, which in addition to Little, featured David Letterman doing a “Top 10 George W. Bush Moments” shtick. ABC News anchorman Charles Gibson, former CBS News anchorman Bob Schieffer, and George Stephanopoulus of ABC News were among the members of the press attending the dinner, while the politicos in attendance included current and former New York Mayors Michael Bloomberg and Rudy Giuliani. The celebrities in attendance included Olympic figure skater Michelle Kwan, American Idol (2002) contestant Sanjaya Malakar, two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda, and TV stars Teri Hatcher, Bill Paxton, and Larry David. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice also was in attendance. Schieffer lauded Little’s Master of Ceremonies performance, commenting “I thought he was great. Generally old-fashioned kind of humor but funny.”.
- Was cast by Orson Welles as the character Otterlake in his autobiographical film The Other Side of the Wind (2016), which co-starred Welles himself and fellow director-actor John Huston. Welles praised Little’s acting, saying that impressionists seemed to make good actors. Little, however, had to drop out of the movie since Welles improvisational style of filming, as well as layoffs caused by budgetary constraints, meant that the shooting schedule was not only unpredictable but practically interminable. When Little was unavailable for filming due to his honoring prior commitments, Welles replaced him with director Peter Bogdanovich, in whose house Welles was then living. The film was never completed during Welles’ lifetime.
- Dubbed the voice of ailing David Niven for Curse of the Pink Panther (1983).
- Was a regular on the “Dean Martin Celebrity Roasts”.
- Comedian and celebrity impressionist. Among his many comic impressions have included fellow comedians (e.g., Johnny Carson and Robin Williams), movie stars (Jack Nicholson, Vincent Price, Sylvester Stallone, Jimmy Stewart and John Wayne), fictional TV characters (Big Bird and Edith Bunker) and every U.S. President since John F. Kennedy (and their major challengers, including Ross Perot and Sen. Bob Dole).
- The son of an Ottawa, Ontario, doctor.
- Active in several charities benefiting children, including the Juvenile Diabetes fund and the Children’s Miracle Network.
- Achieved the rank of Queen’s Scout in the Boy Scouts of Canada.
- His wife, Jeanne, was Joey Bishop’s secretary.
