Harry Anderson Wiki Biography
Harry Laverne Anderson was born on the 14th October 1952, in Newport, Rhode Island USA, and is probably best known for being not only an actor, but also a professional magician, who has appeared in a number of film and TV titles, including “Saturday Night Live” (1981-1985), “Night Court” (1984-1992) playing Judge Harry Stone, and “Cheers” (1982-1993) as Harry “The Hat” Gittes. He is also known for his own show named “Harry Anderson’s Sideshow” (1987). His career has been active since 1978.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Harry Anderson is, as of mid-2016? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Harry’s net worth is over $10 million, which has been accumulated through his successful involvement in the entertainment industry not only as an actor, but also as a magician. Other sources of his wealth are coming from selling his book, owning a small shop of magic, and a nightclub.
Harry Anderson spent his childhood in Chicago, where he went with his father to the famous restaurant The Pump Room, and there for the first time saw magic tricks with cards. During his teenage years he saw the performance of legendary magician Harry Blackstone, Sr, and began to practice his magic skills. He attended Buena Park High School, and later North Hollywood High School, from which he matriculated as a class valedictorian in 1970.
Upon that, he became a member of the Dante Magic Club, where he met such magicians as Paul Green and Paul Harris. He also joined the Magic Castle, where he became a friend of iconic magician Dai Vernon. When he was 17 years old, Harry decided to move to San Francisco to pursue his career as a magician.
Prior to becoming a television actor, he was performing magic tricks on the street. However, he moved his focus to the screen, making his debut appearance in the 1982 film “Twilight Theater”, which was followed by a role in the film “The Escape Artist” in the same year. He also appeared regularly in the TV show “Saturday Night Live”, which led to his starring in the role of Harry “The Hat” Gittes in the TV series “Cheers” (1982-1993). Two years later, he was chosen for the role of Judge Harry T. Stone in the TV series “Night Court” (1984-1992). All of these appearances added a lot to Harry’s net worth. In the next decade, he featured in “Stephen King’s It”, and in 1993 in the TV sitcom “Dave’s World” (1993-1997).
Parallel with his acting career, Harry still performed as a magician, appearing in the TV show “The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson”, and in 1987 he appeared in his own show entitled “Harry Anderson’s Sideshow”. Two year later, he published a book together with his friend Turk Pipkin, under the name “Games You Can’t Lose: A Guide For Suckers”. Subsequently, he made an appearance with Criss Angel in the TV special “The Science Of Magic”, contributing further to his net worth.
If to talk about his personal life, Harry Anderson has been married to Elizabeth Morgan since 2000. He has two children from his previous marriage to Leslie Pollack from 1977 to 1999. His current residence is in Asheville, North Carolina.
