LaVar Ball Wiki Biography
LaVar Ball was born on 23 October 1967, in Los Angeles, California USA, and is a businessman, but probably best known for being the father of National Basketball Association (NBA) player, Lonzo Ball. He also played college basketball, and had a short career in World League of American Football. He made a series of bold statements in 2017 which led him to be constantly featured by sports media, but all of his endeavors have helped put his net worth to where it is today.
How rich is LaVar Ball? As of late-2017, sources inform us of a net worth that is at $4 million, mostly earned through success in business. As he continues his endeavors, it is expected that his wealth will also continue to increase.
LaVar attended Canoga Park High School, where he played both basketball and football, totalling a record of 316 rebounds during his time there. After matriculating, he enrolled at West Los Angeles College, and performed well with the team before transferring to the NCAA Division I Washington State, but recorded low statistics, and after a season transferred to Cal State Los Angeles which is an NCAA Division II school. After graduating, LaVar decided to try his hand at football. In 1994, he signed with the National Football League (NFL) team, the New York Jets, but was loaned to the WLAF team, the London Monarchs; he played only with the practice squad in the NFL.
Due to his children, gaining national attention through their skill sin basketball, Ball then started making bold statements publicly which attracted the attention of national media outlets.
He made big statements about his children, especially comparing his son Lonzo as better than two time MVP Stephen Curry. He even compared Lonzo to LeBron James and Russell Westbrook which led to a lot of criticism, and made statements that he could beat Michael Jordan one on one despite only making 2.2 points per game while playing with Washington State. Eventually, the attention helped increase his net worth, as he started to promote his own business called Big Baller Brand, comparing the company to Nike and Adidas. However, due to his criticisms of the major sports apparel, they all declined signing endorsement deals with Lonzo, so Ball then decided to release his first shoe product called the ZO2, priced at a high $495 which Shaquille O’Neal criticized as overpriced. He then announced a signature shoe for his youngest son LaMelo Ball, even with controversies regarding his NCAA eligibility.
Ball has drawn in criticism since gaining media attention, making racist and sexist comments. He’s also courted criticism for demeaning numerous notable names in professional basketball. Recently, he created a reality television which would be released through Facebook called “Ball in The Family”.
For his personal life, it is known that LaVar is married to Tina and they have three sons Lonzo, LaMelo, and LiAngelo, who were all trained to play basketball by their father at a young age.
