Of Spanish, French and American ancestry, Astrid is the oldest of three sisters; her parents divorced when she was only two years old, and she went with her father to France, settling in a small town close to La Rochelle. During her growing-up she would take part in school plays, but never actually thinking of becoming an actress. After living for several years in France, she and her father moved to the Dominican Republic, but once she turned 17, Astrid moved back to France, settling in Paris, and started pursuing a career in osteopathy. However, she wasn’t quite satisfied with her newfound interest as she had to move a lot, and so started attending drama school, and quickly began pursuing her acting debut.
After several auditions she found success in the TV series “Sur le Fil” in 2007, while in 2008 she featured in the TV mini-series “Elle et moi”, and the same year made her film debut in the drama film “Un Barrage Contre le Pacifique”, in the USA translated as “The Sea Wall”. After her debut on the big screen, Astrid continued with film roles, appearing in French and Spanish films, such as “La Reine Morte”, “Extase” and “Bruc.La llegenda” among others, but then in 2011 made her English film debut, portraying Syrena in the eagerly-awaited action adventure film “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”, a sequel to three previous parts, all starring Johnny Depp. She was hand-picked by Rob Marshall and Jerry Bruckheimer for the role, and though she didn’t speak the English language, she had put all effort in learning one of the most spoken languages in the world. This particular role launched her to stardom, and since then she has starred in a number of successful projections, including the romantic drama “El Sexo de Los Angeles” in 2012, then the lead role in the sci-fi romantic drama film “I Origins”, next to Michael Pitt and Steven Yeun. Most recently her portrayal of the Mage in the new take of the legend of King Arthur, this time written and directed by Guy Ritchie and entitled “King Arthur: Legend of the Sword”, starring next to Charlie Hunnam and Jude Law, increased her net worth by a large margin.
She has also launched a modeling career, signing a contract with Chanel and serving as the brand ambassador for the famous fashion house.
When it comes to her personal life, Astrid has been in a relationship with French actor Pierre Perrier since 2011.
