Clifton Davis Wiki Biography

Clifton Duncan Davis was born on the 4th October 1945, in Chicago, Illinois USA, and is not only a songwriter probably best known as the writer of the Jackson 5’s hit “Never Can Say Goodbye”, but also an actor, who has appeared in a number of TV and film titles, including “That’s My Mama” (1974-1975), “Amen” (1986-1991), and “Madam Secretary” (2015-2016). He is also recognized for being an ordained Seventh Day Adventist minister. His career has been active since 1971.

Have you ever wondered how rich Clifton Davis is, as of late 2016? According to authoritative sources, it is estimated that the size of Davis’ net worth is over $3 million, which has been accumulated largely through his successful career in the entertainment industry. Also, his work as a pastor has also improved his wealth.

Clifton Davis was brought up in Mastic, New York by his father, Toussaint L’Ouverture Davis, who was a Baptist minister, and his mother, Thelma van Putten Langhorn, who worked as a nurse. Upon matriculation, he enrolled at Oakwood University, from which he graduated with a BA degree in Theology. Afterwards, he attended Andrews University, from which he earned a Master of Divinity.

Before becoming a famed actor, Clifton was a songwriter, with notable works for the r&b group The Jackson 5, writing songs such as “Never Say Goodbye” and “Lookin` Through the Windows”, among others, which were the basis of his net worth..

Clifton made several Broadway appearances in musicals, such as “Hello Dolly” and “Two Gentleman of Verona”, and was soon cast in the part of Clifton Curtis in the TV series “That`s My Mama” (1974-1975), which launched him into the acting world. By the end of the 1970s, Clifton had featured in such productions as “Little Ladies of the Night” (1977), “Superdome” (1978), and “Cindy” (1978), which increased his net worth by a large margin. Davis continued successfully through the `80s, landing the role of Arnold Clements in the film “The Night the City Screamed”, and in 1981 he featured in “Don’t Look Back: The Story of Leroy ‘Satchel’ Paige”. In 1986, Clifton was selected for the role of Reverend Reuben Gregory in the TV series “Amen”, which aired until 1991 and which certainly added a substantial amount to his net worth. While the show lasted he wasn`t so active elsewhere in the entertainment industry, but did appear in the film “Dream Date” (1989).

After the end of the show, Clifton continued in the acting world, but landed only a number of brief roles in such series as “Living Single” (1997), “Malcolm & Eddie” (1997), “Party of Five” (1997), “In the House” (1999), until he got the role of Mayor Tyrone Smalls in the film “Any Given Sunday” (1999), starring Al Pacino, Dennis Quiad and Cameron Diaz. In 2001 he appeared in “Kingdom Come”, directed by Doug McHenry, in Tim Hill`s “Max Keeble’s Big Move”, and starred in the film “The Painting”, alongside Charles Shaughnessy and Stacy Dash, which increased further his net worth. Clifton remained active as an actor in the mid- and late- 2000s, with roles in such films as “Halloweentown High” (2004), “The Engagement: My Phamily BBQ 2” (2006), and “Cover (2007). Five years later, Clifton returned to acting with a role in the film “What My Husband Doesn’t Know”, and since then has featured in such productions as “Murder in Manhattan” (2013), “God`s Amazing Grace… Is Just A Prayer Away” (2013), “Madam Secretary” (2015-2016), and most recently “Prayer Never Fails” (2016), which added further to his net worth.

When it comes to speak about his personal life, Clifton Davis has been married to Monica Durant since 2000. Previously, he was in marriage with Ann Taylor from 1981 to 1991, and they are the parents of two children.
