Matthew Duchene was born on 16 January 1991 in Haliburton, Ontario, Canada and is best known as a professional ice hockey player, who plays for the Ottawa Senators in the National Hockey League (NHL).

Matthew has been playing hockey since a young age, initially in the Ontario Minor Hockey Association. In 2007, he began playing in the major junior ice hockey competition for players aged between 16 and 21.
