Laura Kuenssberg Wiki Biography
Born Laura Juliet Kuenssberg in 1976 in Italy, she is a political editor, commentator and reporter, best known to the world for her extensive work for BBC News. She became the first woman political editor for BBC News, after succeeding Nick Robinson in 2015.
Have you ever wondered how rich Laura Kuenssberg is, as of early 2018? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Kuenssberg’s net worth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned through her successful career, active since the late ‘90s.
The daughter of Nick Kuenssberg, honored with an OBE, and his wife Sally Kuenssberg, CBE, Laura actually spent the majority of her childhood in Glasgow, Scotland where she went to Laurel Park School, a private school for girls. After matriculation, Laura enrolled at the University of Edinburgh where she studied history, but then attended a journalism course at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. While in Washington, Laura honed her skills by being a part of an NBC News political programme.
Following her return to Scotland, Laura got her first job for a local radio station in Glasgow, then later for a cable television network, also in Glasgow. She joined BBC North East and Cumbria in 2000 and after a few successful years, won a regional Royal Television Society award for her work as home affairs correspondent.
Thanks to her successful work, Laura was appointed chief political correspondent for BBC News, and worked as a reporter for BBC One, BBC News and others, but in 2011 started working for ITV News as business editor. Two years later, she left BBC and joined ITV full time, reporting on business on the show “Tonight”, and also worked as a newscaster on the “News at Ten”, next to Alastair Stewart. However, after just three months, she left ITV and returned to the BBC, as a presenter of Newsnight and became a regular on the program in February the following year.
Laura continued to improve her career, and in 2015 became the BBC’s political editor, a position she still holds, though being involved in a couple of controversies, including one involving Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn. Nevertheless, she received a number of prestigious awards for her work, including the Broadcaster of the Year by the Political Studies Association in 2016, and the Journalist of the Year award given by the British Journalism Awards in 2016, by Press Gazette.
When it comes to her personal life, Laura is married to James Kelly, a management consultant; the couple resides in east London.
