Heather Locklear Wiki Biography
Heather Deen Locklear was born on 25 September 1961, in Los Angeles, California USA, of part-Native American descent, and is an actress, model, as well as a television producer. Heather Locklear has appeared in many films and television series, but is probably still best known for her portrayal of Sammy Jo Carrington in the famous soap opera created by Richard Shapiro and Esther Shapiro called “Dynasty” from 1981-89, as well as her role of Amanda Woodward in another American soap opera “Melrose Place”(1993-99).
How rich is Heather Locklear? According to authoritative sources, Heather Locklear’s net worth is estimated to amount to $25 million as of mid-2016, the majority having been accumulated from her career in the entertainment industry now spanning over 35 years.
Heather Locklear was educated at Newbury High School, and after matriculating went on to study at the University of California. During her studies, Locklear wanted to pursue her passions, and therefore worked as a model and an actress in many school commercials. Locklear’s first film roles happened in the 1980s, when she received small roles in the comedy-drama series “Eight is Enough” with Dick Van Patten, and the drama series “240-Robert”. However, soon Locklear met film producer and director Aaron Spelling, who helped her jump-start her acting career, casting her for the role of Sammy Jo Carrington in “Dynasty”. The show featured a cast including Linda Evans, Jack Coleman, Pamela Sue Martin and Emma Samms, and aired for nine seasons and produced a total of 220 episodes, proving to be extremely popular with audiences in several countries, and was even nominated for Golden Globe Awards., and proved very beneficial for Heather’s net worth.
The show resulted in the spin-off series “The Colbys”, as well as a line of fashion products, and undoubtedly contributed to the fame of its cast members. It was Spelling again who in 1982 cast Heather in another memorable role, this time portraying rookie police officer Stacy Sheridan in the police drama series “T. J. Hooker” with William Shatner. Even though the show wasn’t as famous as “Dynasty”, it helped Heather Locklear increase her net worth.
Locklear continued to work with Spelling, and made appearances in many of his projects, including “Fantasy Island”, “The Love Boat”, “Matt Houston” and another commercially successful series – “Melrose Place”, in the latter portraying Amanda Woodward and starring alongside Thomas Calabro, Marcia Cross and Amy Locane. A nominee for several Golden Globe Awards, “Melrose Place” is yet another successful television series under Locklear’s name. Even though Heather was most famous and active in the 1980s and 1990s, she continued to be making appearances on screen since then. Locklear’s most recent appearances includes a 2012 comedy sitcom with Jane Leeves “Hot in Cleveland” and a 2013 comedy-drama television series “Franklin & Bash”.
In her personal life, Heather Locklear has been married to two musicians, firstly to drummer Tommy Lee (1986-93) and then to guitarist Richie Sambora (1994-2007). She then had a relationship with fellow “Melrose Place” actor Jack Wagner, but their engagement was called off in 2011. There are some rumours of problems with drugs and alcohol in Heather’s life, and a period of depression and anxiety in the past.

Heather Locklear Quotes
- I enjoy playing Amanda’s cattiness [in Melrose Place], probably because the truth is that I’m not like that at all in my own life. I’m more of a woman’s woman, I guess. You know, as a rule I don’t tend to back-stab my woman friends like Amanda might. [Rolling Stone, May 1994]
- [About Dynasty’s role] When I started being nasty, that’s when I started getting letters… It really started with a scene where I was at a party in a white dress, tipsy, dancing, making a fool out of myself – that’s when the letters really started coming. If someone’s nice, you don’t notice them. If they jump up on a table, you notice. [TV Guide, April 1983]
- The older you get, the farther from the camera you need to be. [Esquire, Junuary 2003]
- [About her cameo in The First Wives Club] I was really worried that all you wanted to talk to me about was The First Wives Club, because if you did, we’d have been here, like, five minutes… The first and only line I ever said on ‘CHIPS’ was ‘Please make them stop!’ and I think I have a little less than that in this movie. I mean, this interview is longer than my role in The First Wives Club… You’ve got to know, I’ve watched everything Goldie Hawn’s ever done and I think she’s soooo great… When she came up to me on the set, said hello and kissed me on the cheek, I swear to God, I was like, ‘Can I have another one?’ [Movieline, October 1996]
- I like going to work when it’s comedy because that means light and fun. But the drama is easier for me. Maybe something I guess about the writing part. The dramedy is kind of hard though – to know when you’re serious and when you’re not. How to play it. I mean always it’s always serious. Then it comes off funny. That’s a little bit harder.
- Teri Hatcher is the most downloaded image on the Internet, not me. Look, it’s even hard for me to go to auditions for roles where it’s supposed to be a sexy girl in high heels and shorts. I usually go, ‘Guys, I’ll be sexy in a pair of tight pants and thick-heeled shoes so that I can stand up, walk and not be so nervous.’ Auditions are always gross, weird and awkward-I’m usually just so grateful when those damn things are over. If I saw someone like Sharon Stone coming out from a reading as I was going in, it would psych me out so bad, I’d probably cry, have to head home and send a message: ‘I can’t make the audition.’ [Movieline, October 1996]
- Even today, I watch “Melrose Place’ and I think: I suck. Half the time, I can’t even see my performance because I’m busy looking at my roots or going, ‘Shouldn’t they use another couple of filters on me right about now?’ [Movieline, October 1996]
- [About success on Dynasty and T.J. Hooker] I see lots of actresses who’ve been working and waiting 10 years for a break and I wonder, Why am I so lucky? Why me? Why did I get the chance? I have no answers. [TV Guide, April 1983]
- [About Melrose Place success] The younger population had no idea who I was. Now all of a sudden I get stopped by elementary-school, high-school kids all the time. I like being the older woman. I mean, someone like Andrew [Shue] must have been like 5 when I first started on TV. [Rolling Stone, May 1994]
- [About Melrose Place] It was definitely the highlight of my career. [Entertainment Weekly’s annual reunions issue, October 2012]
- [When she joins “Franklin & Bash”] I loved “Boston Legal”. I loved “Ally McBeal”. It’s similar to that. It’s a fun show. And it was different than what I’ve done. Is it dramedy? More of a comedy.
- Fans of mine, if they watched T.J. Hooker or Spin City, they’re fans of Heather Locklear. If they call me Sammy Jo or Amanda, they’re fans of the show. [Esquire, Junuary 2003]
- [on why she wasn’t invited for a T.J. Hooker (1982) reunion]: They haven’t asked me. I don’t think they’ve asked [former co-star] Adrian Zmed, but I’m sure William Shatner is willing to do it. I can’t see why [he would] not… Maybe I’ll see the film when it comes out on DVD or something.
