Ty Herndon Wiki Biography
Boyd Tyrone Herndon was born on 2 May 1962 in Meridian, Mississippi USA, and Ty is best known as a country music singer with his number one hit entitled ‘’What Mattered Most’’.
So just how rich is Ty Herndon? Authoritative sources report that Herndon’s net worth is as high as $8 million, accumulated from his over two decades long career in the music industry.
Ty was actually raised in Butler, Alabama. He showed an interest in music during his teenage years, often playing piano and singing Gospel music. Herndon attended Austin High School in Decatur, Alabama, and subsequently moved to Nashville where he would go on to pursue his music career. However, Ty’s plans didn’t live-up to their full potential, and he ended up moving to Texas. Herndon became the lead singer for Tennessee River Boys, a band that was performing in theme parks during the early ‘80s. Later on, the band was renamed into Diamond Rio. Herndon eventually left the band joining the competition ‘’Star Search’’ in 1985.
He was gaining recognition and popularity amongst the fans of the country genre, and was named the Texas Entertainer of the Year in 1993, and things took a turn for the better and Ty finally got a deal with Epic Records.
He debuted with a single ‘’What Mattered Most’’ which took a first place on Hot Country Singles & Tracks. Despite the financial success it had made, the song received mixed reviews by the music experts. Having released the lead single, Herndon went on to release the album of the same title, which did well on charts and became one of the Top 10 Country albums in 1995, being played on 133 radio stations in the first week of release, so breaking several records. Ty’s next single was ‘’I Want My Goodbye Back’’ followed by a duet with Stephanie Bentley entitled ‘’Heart Half Empty’’, both charting well.
Herndon’s second album was released in 1996 and entitled ‘’Living in a Moment’’, reaching first place on country charts. Other acclaimed singles were ‘’She Wants to Begin Again’’ followed by ‘’Loved Too Much’’ and ‘’I Have to Surrender’’. However, the second album wasn’t as successful as the first one. Two years later, Herndon released his third album – ‘’Big Hopes’’. The single ‘’It Must Be Love’’, a collaboration with Doug Virden and Drew Womack peaked at number one on country music charts, the third number one single of his career. The next two albums, ‘’Steam’’ and ‘’No Mercy’’, released respectively in 1999 and 2000 didn’t live up the Ty’s previous success, so in 2002, instead another studio album, he released a compilation of greatest hits entitled ‘’This Is Ty Herndon: Greatest Hits’’, but due to the lack of success, he ended up being released from Epic Records.
As of 2010, Herndon released ‘’ Journey On’’, a Christian contemporary album for the FUNL music label, and the same year received a Dove award for Best Bluegrass Recorded Song for ‘’When We Fly’’.
In his personal life, Ty has been married and divorced twice – he came out as gay in an interview with ‘’People Magazine’’ in 2014, and is in a relationship with Matt Collum.
