David Lewis Blaney was born on 24 October 1962, in Hartford Township, Ohio USA, andis best known as a former professional stock car racing driver, but in addition was also a sprint car racing driver in which he achieved 28 pole positions, competing in 121 races.

In 1983, Dave received the All-Star Sprint Circuit Rookie-of-the-Year award. In the next year he was a part of the United States Automobile Club and competed in the Silver Crown Series, winning the championship. Subsequently, Dave returned to the Busch Series, where he had a limited schedule. In 2002, he competed in 36 races, ending the season with the average start of 23.2 but earning over $2.9 million. He started the season with three top-ten results and ended it achieving another one; he had one pole position and earnings as high as $2.8 million. In 2004, Blaney returned to Bill Davis Racing with a lack of sponsors and limited schedule, competing in 16 races and was in 38th position in the standings. He went on to join Richard Childress Racing where he drove the No.
30 Chevrolet in eight race, however, he was replaced by Jeff Burton. Blaney started a race for Roush Racing driving a Ford car and replacing Carl Edwards. In 2006, he returned to Bill Davis Racing driving the No. 22 Caterpillar-sponsored Dodge, finishing fourth at the Richmond International Raceway. Besides that, he scored two top-ten finishes by the end of the season.
In 2007, Dave failed to qualify for three races in the Cup Series, however, he made his season debut in London. He eventually finished 31st with a score of 30 points. He signed a contract to run No. 66 Prism Motorsports Toyota, but during the season, he had problems with sponsorship, which resulted in him failing to qualify for three out of four races, and ending the season ranked 41st earning $2.3 million. As of the next year, Dave appeared in 29 out of 36 races, with an average start of 32.0 and average finish of 38.2. In the 2011 season, he joined Tommy Baldwin Racing, where he participated during the whole season. Having missed only one season race, Dave was ranked 32nd and gained $3.2 million. He announced his semi-retirement in 2014, having competed in 473 races during his career.
