Matthew Thomas Skiba Wiki Biography
Matthew Thomas Skiba was born on the 24th February 1976, in Chicago, Illinois USA, and is a musician, singer and songwriter, perhaps best known as the lead singer and guitarist of the pop punk band Alkaline Trio, and as the new guitarist of pop punk band Blink-182. He has also been a member of other bands, as well as releasing solo albums. Skiba has been active in the entertainment industry since 1992.
How much is the net worth of Matt Skiba? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that the overall size of his wealth is as much as $4 million, as of the data presented in late 2017. Music is the main source of Skiba’s modest fortune.
To begin with, Matt is the son of the surgeon Dr. Thomas Skiba and primary school teacher Joan Skiba. When he was three years old the family moved to McHenry in Illinois, however, he was a student at Chicago’s Columbia College, but dropped out in 1996 to pursue a career in the music industry. He formed the band Alkaline Trio with the drummer Glenn Porter and the bassist Rob Doran, and the band soon released their first demo and single “Sundials”, and then began recording their first EP, “For Your Lungs Only”. The band released their first studio album – “Goddamnit” – in 1998 under the label of Asian Man Records, soon followed by another album “Maybe I’ll Catch Fire” (2000), and the compilation “Alkaline Trio” (2000). Matt’s net worth was rising steadily.
The formation of the band changed in 2000 when Glenn Porter left and drummer Mike Felumlee replaced him. “From Here to Infirmary” (2001) was released under the Vagrant Records label in the spring of 2001. With the cooperation of new drummer Derek Grant, the album “Good Mourning” was released in 2003, shortly before the release of which Skiba recorded a solo EP with help from Kevin Seconds. Also aside from the band, he contributed to the compilation of Fat Wreck Chords Project: A Benefit For The National Association To Protect Children, with the song “Demons Away”.
Outside Alkaline Trio, Matt has had a parallel project in a group called Heavens, alongside the bassist of the band F-Minus, Josh Steinbrick. They released their album in 2006 called “Patent Pending, then with his band Alkaline Trio, Skiba released the album “Crimson” in 2006, followed by the compilation “Remains” in 2007. Then “Agony & Irony”, their first album under the label Epic Records was released in the summer of 2008, and at the beginning of 2010 the album “This Addiction” followed, on their own record label Heart & Skull. In 2012 and 2013, Matt recorded studio albums with the bands Sekrets and the Hell, but in 2013, Alkaline Trio released the studio album entitled “My Shame Is True”. In 2015, Tom DeLonge left the band Blink-182 and Skiba took over his position, and shortly afterwards released the album “California” (2016). His net worth continued to rise.
Finally, in the personal life of the musician, Matt is now officially single, having divorced from Monica Parker. He lives in Los Angeles, and is a vegetarian who supports PETA the animal rights organization.
