Ricardo Valdez Valentine, born on the 24th of June, 1992, is an American singer, rapper, and songwriter who became known in the music industry as 6lack (pronounced as “Black”), following the success of his hit song “Prblms.”

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, 6lack is the oldest of three siblings and spent most of his time growing up in Atlanta, Georgia. His passion for music started at a very young age, as his father has his own recording studio at home. In middle school, he started rapping and began joining battles against other rappers. Some of his musical inspirations included artists Usher and Sade, and their music led him to learning how to sing and eventually to start recording his works in 2009.

While attending Valdosta State University, in 2011 an independent recording label signed 6lack, and he decided to quit school to focus in creating music. In November 2016, 6lack released his first studio album – “Free 6lack”, which peaked at number 34 in the Billboard 200 chart, and soon his single “Prblms” also joined the Billboard Hot 100. The song became an immediate hit, and eventually became his first platinum certified record by RIAA. The success of his first album certainly helped his career and also his net worth.

6lack’s style and process of song writing that often involves the pain of heartbreak, failed relationships, and personal experiences, has built a strong relationship with his fans.

In April 2017, 6lack joined Canadian singer The Weeknd on his Legend of the Fall tour, and became his opening act. His participation on the tour also helped increase his wealth.
