Concerning his professional career, he has created more than 750 lawn ornaments. He began with those of a boy with a dog as well as a girl holding a watering can. In 1957, Don created another well known lawn ornament – the duck named Charlie. Then another sculpture – the birth in Coggshall Park – was released. In 1958, he received an offer to create a pink flamingo as at that time pink colour was very popular. So, the artist used photographs of real flamingos and created one.
