Kei Nishikori Wiki Biography

Kei Nishikori is a Matsue, Shimane, Japan-born professional tennis player and Olympic medalist, who is best known for being the first Asian tennis player to qualify for the ATP World Tour Finals. Born on 29 December 1989, Kei has been active in tennis since he was as young as five years old. In 2014, he surprised the world through his performance being the runner-up at the US Open.

A consistent figure representing Japan in Olympics and a top Asian tennis player, one may wonder how rich is he? As estimated by sources, Kei has a net worth of $9 million as of late 2016, His career as a professional tennis player winning several tournaments has helped him amass his wealth.

Nishikori was raised in Japan along with his older sister Reina. Kei started playing tennis at the age of five; he did his schooling at Aomori-Yamada High School. His family, aware of his interest in tennis, let him compete in tournaments throughout the country; he was so good that he won the All Japan Tennis Championship for kids held in 2001. At the age of 14, Kai moved to the USA in order to join the IMG academy in Florida, and continued his career as a junior tennis player and was an immediate success, as he would compile an impressive 73/37 win/loss record in singles.

Having had a start to his career from junior player, he was able to qualify for ATP World Tour. He eventually went on to win the Delray Beach title defeating James Blake and becoming the youngest Japanese player ever to win a title. That same year, Kei also became the first Japanese player ever to reach the round of sixteen at the US open. The year 2014 was his breakthrough year as he defeated many big names in the sport and eventually improved his singles ranking to World’s No. 8. At this time of his career, Kei started to add significantly into his net worth.

Kei won Memphis Cup four times in a row from 2013 to 2016 to become first Japanese player to do so. Kei represented Japan in the London Olympics in 2012 and finished fifth in the tournament. That very year he won his second ATP Tour title, the Rakuten Japan Open, and Kei won his third ATP world title the next year – the US Indoor Championship. After reaching the finals at Madrid Masters, Kei became the world’s top 10 ranking player. In 2015, he reached No.4, his highest rank so far, after winning the Memphis Cup for the third time in a row and defending his Barcelona Open Title. In 2016 he represented Japan at the Rio Olympics, winning the Bronze medal which put the nation in frenzy. All of these wins and participations in international tournaments have added a lot to Kei’s net worth.

As for his personal life, there are no details of relationships – Kei is apparently still single. Kei currently resides in Bradenton, Florida, United States, and is coached by Dante Bottini and Michael Chang, actually the first Asian – but American-born – to win a Grand Slam title.
