Harvey Levin Wiki Biography
American television personality and lawyer Harvey Levin, was born on 2 September 1950 in Los Angeles, California, and is probably best known to the public for working on the TV show called “The People’s Court”, which has been nominated for several Daytime Emmy Awards, although yet to win one. Harvey is also known for creating the website TMZ dot com, on which visitors can gossip and be published.
So just how rich is Harvey Levin? It has been estimated by authoritative sources that Levin’s net worth is over $15 million as of early 2017, accumulated from both his areas of work as a lawyer and TV personality. As Harvey’s career continues, there is a high chance that his wealth will continue to grow.
Levin’s education began at Grover Cleveland High School in Reseda, Los Angeles from where he matriculated in 1968, and he then graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara, in 1972 with a BA in political science. He gained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Chicago Law School in 1975. From 1975 ‘til 1996, Levin worked as a lawyer in California in various aspects of law, including teaching at universities such as Whittier College in Orange County. His educational background in political science allowed him to work on several projects, where he had to use this kind of knowledge; for example Levin worked on KCBS-TV where he was a legal reporter, inevitably becoming involved with political law-makers as well as prominent court cases – the O. J. Simpson trial being one of them.
In 1996 Harvey received an invitation to work on the show entitled “The People’s Court”, created by John Masterson, a reality court program presided over by Florida Judge Marilyn Milian, and including Mayor Ed Koch and Jerry Sheindlin among others. This show became one of the main sources of Harvey Levin’s net worth, and continues to this day.
Another TV program on which Harvey worked has been “Celebrity Justice”. He was the producer of this show until 2005, when he decided to create the news website TMZ dot com with AOL, another long running project noted for breaking stories on celebrities, which still contributes to Harvey Levin’s net worth.
To talk about his personal life, Levin has had to go through some difficulties, as he is openly gay and not all people yet accept such a person. However, perhaps unsurprisingly, Out magazine’s “Power 50” has listed Levin as one of the most influential voices in LGBT America since 2012. Levin has been in a longtime partnership with Andy Mauer, a Southern California chiropractor, and they continue to reside in LA.
