Jennifer Nettles Wiki Biography
Jennifer Odessa Nettles was born on the 12th September 1974, in Douglas, Georgia USA, and is a country musician, singer, songwriter and an actress, probably most famous as the lead vocalist of the Sugarland duo, as well as for collaboration with Bon Jovi in 2006.
Have you ever wondered how much wealth this multi-talented entertainer has acquired so far? How rich Jennifer Nettles is? According to sources, it is estimated that Jennifer Nettles’ net worth, as of early 2016, is $14 million, which has been accumulated through her career in the music industry that has been active since 1996.
Jennifer showed an interest in music at the early age, when she learned to play piano and started performing at school assemblies, church events and community theater. She even joined Georgia’s 4-H’s Clovers & Company. After matriculating from Coffee High School in her hometown, she enrolled at Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Georgia where she studied sociology and anthropology and from which she graduated in 1997. During college, alongside Cory Jones, Jennifer Nettles formed an acoustic duo – Soul Miner’s Daughter. They released two albums “The Sacred and Profane” (1996) and “Hallelujah” (1998), providing the basis for Jennifer Nettles’ net worth.
Subsequently, in 1999 she formed the Jennifer Nettles Band. With drummer Brad Sikes, pianist Scott Nicholson, bassist Wesley Lupold and percussionist Mike Cebulski, Jennifer published three studio albums and two live albums in total, and won the grand prize of Mars Music’s competition, “The Big Deal $100,000 Music Search” from more than 2,000 other bands. Besides raising her popularity, this reward also positively impacted on Jennifer’s net worth.
In 2003, Jennifer teamed up with two of Atlanta’s alternative rock scene veterans – Kristian Bush and Kristen Hall, and the country trio Sugarland was born. Later that year, their debut album “Twice the Speed of Life” was released by Mercury Nashville, which was a huge success, spawning several hit songs of which most famous was “Baby Girl”, and sold over two million copies. Sugarland’s and Jennifer’s popularity was rising rapidly, and they were nominated for several Academy of Country Music Awards in 2005. In 2006 trio became a duo after Kristen Hall left the group, but that didn’t effect their quality at all – the album “Enjoy the Ride” generated several top 10 hits including the song “Stay” which won the ACM Award for Single Record of the Year and Song of the Year. The Sugarland duo was even nominated for a Grammy Award.
Apart from increasing Jennifer Nettles’ net worth, her previous success lead her into a collaboration with Bon Jovi in 2006, and the duet performance “Who Says You Can’t Go Home” which peaked at No.1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart. Jennifer Nettles and Bon Jovi won Grammy Award in 2007 for Best Country Vocal Collaboration.
In 2014, Jennifer Nettles started her solo career, and soon afterwards her “That Girl” album hit the charts. Her second solo album “Playing with Fire” is soon to be released. In her dynamic career so far, she has collaborated with several big names in the music industry including John Legend, Michael W. Smith and Kenny Rogers, and has won numerous awards.
Jennifer also made some effort towards the movie industry – she appeared in the NBC television movie “Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors” (2015) and 2016 WGN hit series “Underground”.
When it comes to her personal life, in 1998 Jennifer Nettles married Todd Van Sickle, but they divorced in 2007. Since 2011, she has been married to entrepreneur and former model Justin Miller, with whom she has a son. Jennifer Nettles currently resides with her family in Nashville, Tennessee.
Apart from music, Jennifer Nettles is very active in charity causes and in supporting non-profit organizations – she raised over $120,000 for the Shalom foundation in 2007, and a year later she launched Common Thread, a series of musical events enabling various music artists to raise money for charity. Jennifer Nettles also took part in Artists for Haiti in 2010, after an earthquake hit that island country.
