Lara Logan was born on 29 March 1971, in Durban, South Africa, and is a journalist and war correspondent, known for her work on radio and television. She works for CBS NEWS as the chief foreign affairs correspondent, and is also part of the show “60 Minutes” as a correspondent. All of her efforts have helped put her net worth to where it is today.

Lara attended Durban Girls’ College, and after matriculating went to the University of Natal in Durban, graduating with a degree in commerce in 1992. She then attended Alliance Francaise in Paris, gaining a diploma in French language, culture and history.

While in college, Logan worked as a news reporter for the “Sunday Tribune” from 1988 to 1989, then for the “Daily News” until 1992. She moved on to Reuters Television in Africa, working as a senior producer for four years before moving to freelance journalism. As such she worked as an editor, producer and reporter for NBC, ABC News, CBS News as well as ITN. She then found work at CNN, and reported the 1998 United States embassy bombings in Tanzania and Nairobi. She subsequently reported on the Kosovo War and the Northern Ireland conflict, all of which helped build her net worth.

In 2000, she was hired by GMTV Breakfast Television as a correspondent, and also worked with CBS News Radio during this time. Two years later, she was offered a full-fledged correspondent position in CBS News, and spent the next four years working in various zones of conflict, such as Iraq and Afghanistan. She also interviewed various celebrities and explorer, before becoming a permanent part of shows such as “60 Minutes II”, “Face the Nation”, “The Early Show”, and “CBS Evening News”. In 2006, she was promoted to chief foreign affairs correspondent for CBS News.

In 2007, Lara filed a report of fighting in Baghdad at the Haifa Street, but it was not run deeming the story “a bit strong”. She then enlisted public support to help the story run. Three years later, she was criticized for making remarks about journalist Michael Hastings because he reported overhearing a statement between General Stanley A. McChrystal and his staff. In 2011, she was arrested by the Egyptian Army while covering the Egyptian Revolution, detained for one night and experiencing sexual assault during the event, only saved by a group of women. In 2013, she issued an apology after an inaccurate “60 Minutes” report about the Benghazi attack, and was obliged to take a leave of absence due to the errors.

For her personal life, it is known that Logan married professional basketball player Jason Siemon in 1998, but their marriage ended in divorce. In 2008, she married US government defense contractor Joseph Burkett. They have two children and she has a stepdaughter from Burkett’s previous marriage.
