Brian Henson Wiki Biography

Brian Henson is a director, producer, puppeteer and technician, born on 3rd November 1963, in New York City, USA, and is best known as the chairman of The Jim Henson Company, but some of his most notable work includes “The Muppet Christmas Carol” (1992), “Muppet Treasure Island” (1996) and “Farscape” (1999).

Have you ever wondered how rich Brian Henson is? According to sources, it has been estimated that Brian’s net worth is over $10 million, as of May 2017, acquired mostly through a successful career in directing and producing, which he started in the early ‘80s. After inheriting his father’s company, Brian’s wealth increased significantly. Since he is still an active member of the entertainment industry, his wealth continues to grow.

One of five children of famous puppeteers Jane and Jim Henson, he was artistically influenced by his parents from early childhood; he appeared in some segments of his father’s productions such as PBS’s children series “Sesame Street” in “Number Song Series”. Some years later, Brian made the first Muppet penguin puppet for “Lullaby of Broadway’s” opening segment of an episode of “The Muppet Show”. In 1980, during his high school holiday, he assisted in making the bicycle sequence for “The Great Muppet Caper” (1981) by creating and operating a special device which allowed bicycle-riding Muppets too. Four years later, he operated a marionette in “The Muppets Take Manhattan” (1984) musical comedy film of Scooter riding a bicycle, so his net worth was well established.

The ‘80s proved to be a lucrative period and a good outbreak for Henson’s career as he appeared as Jack Pumpkinhead in “Return to Oz”(1985), and operated special effects for “Santa Claus: The Movie” the same year. In 1986 he was one of the main performers in “Little Shop of Horrors”, for the Audrey II puppet, fully controlling the movement of the puppet’s mouth while other’s performed the lips. That same year he voiced the character of Hoggle in his father’s film “Labyrinth”, and the Dog in the 1988 and 1990 versions of “The Storyteller”.

With the beginning of the ‘90s, Brian’s directing career began to develop, and one of his first works was “The Muppet Christmas Carol” in 1992, followed by the 1996 franchise “Muppet Treasure Island”. Some years later he performed as Dr. Phil van Neuter, a Muppet mad scientist in “Muppets from Space” (1999), and as Janice and Scooter in the 2002 TV movie “It’s a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie”(2002). His net worth was rising steadily.

When it comes to his television engagements, Henson has served as the executive producer for several TV series, such as “Dinosaurs”(1991-1994), “Aliens in the Family”(1996), “Bear in the Big Blue House”(1997-2006) and “Farscape”(1999-2003). Brian’s more recent activity includes appearing as himself as the head judge on the “Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge” TV show in 2014. He is also the producer, co-creator and a current performer in the adult themed variety show “Puppet Up!”, and portrayed several characters from his show on the British program “That Puppet Game Show”.

Privately, Brian was married to Ellis Flyte for twelve years until 2002. He married his second wife, Mia Sara in April 2010, and the couple has a daughter.
