Estelle, born Estelle Fanta Swaray in West London, England on January 18, 1980. She is a singer-songwriter, rapper, voice actor, and producer. She is known for mixing different musical genres such as soul, reggae, R&B, hip hop, and dance. She gained international recognition from her hit song “American Boy” (featuring Kanye West).

Estelle is the daughter of a Senegalese mother and a Grenadian father, whom she did not meet until she was 23, and the second eldest of eight children. She grew up under a religious household where only Christian and gospel music were allowed. However, in her teenage years, she discovered hip-hop which ignited her dream of a musical career. She landed a job in London’s popular hip-hop record store Real Deal where she later started performing.
