Alex James Wiki Biography
Steven Alexander James was born on the 21st November 1968, in Boscombe, Dorset, England, and is a musician and songwriter, probably best recognized for being the bassist in the rock band Blur. He has also played with Me Me Me, Fat Les, and WigWam, plus unusually he is also known as a journalist, and for cheesemaking. His career has been active since 1988.
So, have you ever wondered how rich Alex James is, as of mid-2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that the total size of Alex’s net worth is over $25 million, accumulated not only through his successful involvement in the music industry, but also through his career as a journalist, with another source coming from his making cheese.
Alex James spent his childhood in his hometown, and went to the state grammar Bournemouth School for Boys, where he began to play in bands. Upon matriculation, he enrolled at Goldsmiths College to study French., and while there met his future bandmate Graham Coxon, and his friends Dave Rowntree and Damon Albarn, who were members of the band Circus.
Thus, Alex’s professional career began in 1988, when he co-founded with Coxon, Rowntree and Albarn a rock band called Seymour, which later they renamed to Blur. Their debut album came out in 1991 under the title “Leisure”, which was certified gold and peaked at No. 7 on the UK Albums Chart. The band was active until 2003, and during that period, they released such studio albums as “The Great Escape” (1995), “13” (1999), and “Think Tank” in 2003, after which they disbanded. However, in 2015, they reunited and released the album “The Magic Whip”, which topped the UK Albums Chart and was certified gold, adding a considerable amount to his net worth.
In 1998, Alex co-founded the band Fat Les, alongside Damien Hirst and actor Keith Allen. They released the song “Vindaloo” for the 1998 FIFA World Cup, which peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart. Furthermore, he has also been a part of other bands, such as Me Me Me and WigWam, increasing his net worth by a large margin.
Apart from his musical career, Alex is also known as a journalist, who writes his columns entitled “Mucking It”, and “Alex James On All Things Food”. In 2007, he published his autobiographical book “Bit OF A Blur”, which also added to his wealth.
To speak further about his life, Alex also became known as a cheesemaker, as he is the owner of a farm in the Cotswolds, England, which also contributes to his net worth. In 2008, Alex won the award for Best Goats’ Cheese at the British Cheese Awards, and three years later, he established a food and music festival on his farm called “Alex James Presents Harvest”.
Thanks to his accomplishments, Alex was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Bournemouth University in 2010, and three years later an Honorary Doctorate of Arts from the University of Gloucestershire.
If to talk about his personal life, Alex James has been married to Claire Neate since 2003; the couple has five children together.
